Marbury obviously was expecting 2 years at least.

If we lose out on Wallace, and Marbury because of our lowballing, I am going to be p---ed.

I don't think we're lowballing Wallace. He probably would like a full extension from Detroit at max money, it isn't going to happen.

We might have to go to a third year if SA or Orlando were to offer it, but that's all part of negotiating.

I don't think we should wait until other teams offer the 3rd year. We need to be the first to offer the 3rd year.  We waited until Posey got a 4th year offer before we even offered 3.  Might be a case of whoever offers it first.

i think if wallace was offered a third year the deal would be done...the issue is he wants to wait and guess what..teams like the cavs, spurs and magic get in the mix if he waits...he becomes their first choice the longer this goes on

It's easy to say this  because it's not our money. This is where it's tough for a fan base to criticize because we don't really know if it is management unwilling to do the 3rd year, or if it is Danny.

Marbury has made a lot of money in the league. More than most. Why not play for a title now?
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Much as it pains me to wave goodbye to a player with long-term baggage who also would have ranked 328th out of 329 on the true shooting leaderboard had he played enough minutes to qualify and whose team was a net of 13.9 points per 100 possessions worse with him on the floor than off it, I think I can survive.

Thanks for not being a distraction during your time in green, Steph.  Thanks for your efforts in Game 5 against Orlando.

Aside from that, see ya.

Also, the fact that he was the only one in his "circumstances" seems less a credit to him and more a sad-that-we-have-to-credit-them-for-this testament to the league's other 400-some players who didn't quit on their teams and then refuse to play and then demand a buyout that still got them most of their insane $21.9 million contract.

How are we negotiating when we have 0 leverage.

Either we give him what he wants or he will go start and make more taxless money in SA.

We know he wants a third year, but do we even know if SA will give him that much? Has SA even made an offer yet? We don't know enough to justify freaking out about things.

Who is SA saving their MLE for then?

Mannix was on Comcast Sports last night and said San Antonio is offering the exact same contract as Boston , 2 years MLE. However San Antonio has an advantage because they can give him a starting role and there is no income tax in texas.
