This is a bigger deal than some think.  Marbury, if he finds his game, gives us another elite talent off the bench.  With every other team stacking up, that's very important.

And what if he doesn't?  Then, we would have another player on our bench who couldn't play.

I really don't think there's much of a chance he doesn't.  He hadn't played in over a year when he came to us and before that he was really good.  Not a chance he doesn't get his game back.  If Danny didn't believe that, he wouldn't have even offered him a contract since he was so bad last year.
"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

I'm still convinced Pruitt did more for us last season than Marbury.  When Pruitt was getting pt he looked good and his defense is very good and he has height
I'd rather $ went to sheed or another vet than marbury

oh yea I totally forgot about Pruitt. I think it is time to give him a real shot at backup PG, at least for the 1st half of the season. If he doesn't cut itwe still have Scal + TA as about 5.5 MIL in expiring contracts to trade at the deadline for a backup PG.

Good news.

Now we can see Eddie back at the point, in his rightful position, and stop that irritating and ineffective small backcourt.

Eddie House is NOT a PG. He is best  at SG as you saw against Orlando last year when he was able to get the pass and shoot and not have to worry about defensive pressure..

Bad news. Argh. Can anything go right for us this offseason?

What???  Eddie was an abomination at the point guard spot.  Moving him off-the-ball was the exact reason the entire 2nd unit started playing well.  House at point guard is the LAST thing we need to see again.
Folly. Persist.

yes, make or break, if pruitt looks horrible in summer league get a vet in right away if he looks good give him the backup job with consistant minutes at the beginning of season and see what he can do
at this point he's a cheap backup who knows the system but needs a better handle

well it would be even better if we could get Grant Hill. That way Hill can run the offense and have Pruitt as a spot up shooter, which he is very capable of being. Then on the defensive end Pruitt is good and has the foot speed to stay in front of PG'S

Actually now that I think of it Grant Hill can play the PG position very effectively . If we could just find a PG that can defend and hit down the spot up J it would be a perfect fit alongside Grant Hill.

yeah, that possibility caught my eye as well.  I would love to see it, too.

I am surprised Marbury isn't coming back at a bargain, but it sure sounds like he's out.  He is even shooting his mouth off and talking trash about his Knick days to ESPN.  That kinda proves he's a man without a team, because otherwise KG may tell him to shut up, or something.

"Sounds like the ice's problem."

This move by Marbury is insane.  If I'm understanding this correctly he wanted more than league min. but, probably wouldn't have balked at 3 million a year ( he's not worth it ).  Didn't he just take a massive payout to leave NY last year for nothing.  He's that financially strapped that he would risk being on a winner where he can prove he's much better than he played last year to test the market.

Unless there is more to this story this guy just doesn't have a clue, IMO.

I don't even see a significant drop off if Boston plays Pruitt in his spot.  At worst he can dribble the ball up the court and spot up for open 3's.  And he can't be any worse on defense.

What do the Laker's currently have to offer? I know he knows Jerry Buss and the Laker's were one of the teams who contacted him last year. As a career long Marbury fan I hope to god they aren't one of the teams.

Starbury was statistically one of the very worst players in the NBA last year, including in the playoffs.  If he thinks that his level of play earned him more than $1.3 million, then more power to him.  Good luck finding some other team to pay him to shoot like crap.

Here's a stat for you.

Out of all of the players in the league, Marbury was the only player to have been coming off an an injury, then being exiled by a team, thus not playing for a year, to come back and sign right before the deadline.
