Lets see this reported other places because last night Artest's manager said someone had made a fake twitter account and fooled a bunch of the media about Ron's intentions

realgm.com is reporting it...

wow, I bet Kobe's steals go up to 3 per game with Artest there to guard the better swingman

LA just got better, but we're still better I think, especially if Sheed comes aboard

Rondo > Fisher
Ray   < Kobe
PP    = Artest
KG    > Pau
Perk  > Bynum

We still have the best starting 5 in the league. If we sign Sheed and BBD and a legit wing we will have one of the best benches in the league too

Maybe its just my celtic bias but I would put
Pierce>Artest

But only slightly.

It's hard to be objective. I'm sure Laker fans would say that Gasol is now equal or better than KG based on age and injuries.

Yeah, you're probably right.  I'm sure a lot of Lakers would claim something so ridiculous.  But seriously, how laughable is that assertion?!

this is horrible... I'm praying they lose both Odom and Ariza now... If that happens it's a wash.

Ron Artest has told Ken Berger of CBSSports.com that he will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

"I'm definitely going to L.A. -- to sign, yeah," Artest said in a phone interview. "Lakers, Lakers, Lakers. I'm in L.A. right now."

Artest said he met with Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss Thursday and previously had spoken with Lakers coach Phil Jackson. He was en route to his financial manager's office, where he planned to huddle on the phone with his agent, David Bauman, to finalize details.

The parameters of the deal still need to be agreed upon, however.

"I don't really care about the money," Artest said. "I'll play there for nothing. ... L.A. was very interested in me, and they got me."

[dang]! What disgusts me the most with this team is how lucky the Lakers are. They get Gasol in a gift trade and Artest is ready to play for them for nothing!

Well, this is officially the biggest news of the offseason, and I don't see any other free agent signing that will top it for the duration of it.  Unfortunately, this ended up happening to the lakers.

Seriously though, if money wasn't an issue and all it took was showing that he was wanted, why didn't KG, Ray, Pierce and company just highjack the plane and make one more stop on Artest's door.

Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.mit!

  • Rondo = Good
I'm not surprised at all.  Artest on the Lakers just makes way too much sense not to happen.

My worry is that the Lakers stars are still in their primes, while the C's will have 4 guys in their mid 30's more or less. Rondo's going to have to make another jump this year, unless we're really lucky with the injury situation. Older guys scare me injury wise.

****mit!

Why does anybody have to top the signing?

All we need to do is be better as a team, not have the most "splashy" signing.

Personally, I love it. This could be an epic NBA season if everybody stays healthy. All the top teams seem to be reloading for an all-out slugfest of a season.
