Sorry I think this is a disaster for the Wolves, unless they trade Rubio immediately for something worthwhile. They first now have lots of lost revenue from not having the draw of Rubio. Second Al Jefferson is not going to wait around for Rubio to come over here and develop against the CP3, DW, and Rose's of the league. He will sign elsewhere because he knows the Wolves are not committed to going anywhere.

does this actually have anything to do with the team being Minnesota?  I thought the problem was that he was picked 5th, is only making like 3 mil.. and has a large buyout.   Wasn't this the reason he wanted to be picked 2nd ? ... so that his NBA money would offset some of the money from the buyout?

Sign elsewhere? he just signed a pretty big extension.

First off, I never believe these random reports in foreign papers (or local papers for that matter).  75% of the time, they are being fed by agents.  My guess is this is just a threat, so they will trade him.

People say that Minnesota blew the pick, but the Kings were the ones that really blew it.  I read recently that the Wolves would be crazy to (and would have never heard the end of it had they) pass on Rubio twice.

At the very least they now have a good trading chip that isn't costing them any money.

How do you figure he's getting out of his 5 year deal with the wolves he signed last year? asking nicely?

IT's not a disaster, they can still easily move him if they want, since he will be adding to his value by continuing to dominate in europe, and they have to pay zero dollars for a trade asset or prospect for the future.

based on his skill set, which is very solid and only improving because he's 18, why?

If he's traded to a big market team, he'll come over now.  The article is likely a planted negotiating ploy.

"Continuing to Dominate in Europe"? ? ? ?

Last year in Spain he averaged 8 pts and 38% shooting or something like that.  He has shown great potential, but has not yet dominated in Europe.

If he did decide to play for the wolves, he would be on the end of the bench or in the D league for the next couple of years.  Now in two years, he might just be ready for the NBA.

I see no downside to this for Minni.

What is with these guys from Spain? Rubio being a baby and now Rudy Fernandez crying because the Blazers want Hedo.

Don't forget Fran Vazquez, staying in Europe because his girlfriend didn't want to come to the States.

The hyperbole is interesting.  He's either the greatest PG ever, a cross between Steve Nash and John Stockton OR he's a guy who can't make it past a developmental league.

He's a nice prospect in a draft that really dropped after pick #7.

After Gomes's BYC ends this year, they should offer Rubio and Gomes for Michael Beasley.  I'm pretty sure Rubio wouldn't mind Miami and Miami could then bring in Shawn Marion for the MLE.

That's why I said only if they trade him now is it not a disaster. They are not getting the talent they should get at the 5th spot, hence no money from people interested in seeing their crappy team. That is a big hit. Also Big Al will not be happy being on a sub-500 team the next few years that never makes the playoffs.

[dang], I was looking forward to seeing what all the hype was about.  My friends from Spain have been talking this kid up to me for the last two years.

HE was happy enough to sign a big extension last year. They just got a really good PG in Flynn.

The wolves will be fine. They took the last two true talents in an awful draft, and they get rubio for free and teams with PG needs will come to them constantly (ricky can buyout his contract W/E he wants).
