Considering yesterday's events, i think it's fair to say the Detriot has egg on their face for going public with their laughter supposed over the Celtics trade 'offer' on Rondo and Ray for Stuckey, Rip and Tayshon.
Simple question: why would you turn down much less spit in the face of trading three highly limited and in two cases grossly overpaid players for one of the best up and coming PGs in the league and a one year rental on the greatest shooter in the game and cap relief, when you're about to sign two perimeter players to massive contracts?
Look I'm sorry, but you don't keep Rip Hamilton on your team with that silly extension when you sign Ben Gordan to 11mil a year. And let's face it, Stuckey dreams of being Gordon -- he's not a PG and will struggle to ever sniff All-Star caiber play at that position. So you laugh because you have to give up Prince at over 10mil a year? Your core on a deteriorating team?
I understand what Dumars was trying to do -- raise the trade value of his ****** players -- but the fact that a) it was not even an offer but a feeler, b) he knew he was targeting Gordon, and c) he continues to make baffling moves that do not suggest the Pistons will be winners any time soon, confirm that Dumars continues to be one of the most overrated GMs in sports.
