“I made some calls,’’ said Ainge, the Celtics’ president of basketball operations. “Rasheed is a guy we have interest in. We made calls with quite a few free agents’ representatives late last night from my office to let them know we have interest. We contacted 10 free agents and tried to get some feedback in what they are looking for and their interest long term. But that’s about it. Mostly for something down the road.’’

According to Andy Miller, agent for Tyronne Lue - a reserve guard for Orlando who is close to Garnett - and forward Antonio McDyess, Ainge has expressed interest in both players.

I would definitely prefer Marbury over Lue. But there are quite a lot more options out there this summer.

And it also looks like some players offer their services:

Quote
Ainge said he has been on the receiving end of many more inquiries from agents in recent days than he has proferred.

He's just covering all the bases like a good GM. Though I wouldn't trust Lue for anything other than a 3rd string.

And you didn't mention the best part;

"Strickland confirmed the Celtics’ contact with Wallace with a text message: “The interest is mutual.’’"

So, Sheed and Lue?

At what point did the Boston Celtics turn into the "KG´s best superfriends forever" All-Stars?
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Then Ron Artest is a Laker.

He did the exact same thing last year.  The problem was, most of the guys he was only interested in offering the vet minimum to, so they went elsewhere.  My guess is at least 5 of the ten guys he called this year, he is also only interested in offering the vet minimum to.

But he is reportedly talking to the Cavs.

I hope Danny doesn't sign Lue. :-\

Here's my guess at the 10
Definite:

2. Parker
3. Lue
4. McDyess
5. Big Baby
6. Marbury
Guesses:
7. Marion
8. Artest

10. Gortat

I think Hill and Barnes are more likely candidates than your guesses.  Of those 4, maybe Gortat.  Marion, Artest and Odom would all need the full MLE to be signed and Danny knows (or should know) he needs that $ for a big man off the bench.

Yeah, I'd definitely add Hill to the list.  He's a Doc favorite, and wasn't there a report that we contacted him?

Also, we may have touched base with Dahntay Jones agent.  (He makes sense, just not on a big contract.)

I like the list if you add those two. Danny's looking at the free agents I'd like, now we just need to land the right combination.

Celtics Interested In McDyess and Tyronne Lou

McDyess was expected to return to the Pistons, but began checking other options because Detroit signed Charlie Villanueva, who agreed in principle to a contract yesterday, according to the Associated Press.

Lue was on the Celtics’ list last year before Eddie House signed. House exercised a player option on the second year of his contract Tuesday.

Would love to have McDyess for the Vet Min along with Rasheed Wallace for the MLE , but still think I would rather have Marbury than Tyronne Lou just because I think he still has the ability to take over a game for stretches on offense.

PG: Rondo   /  Marbury
SG: Ray     / House
SF" PP      / Hill ( LLE)
PF: KG      / McDyess (VET MIN)
 C: Perk    / Wallace ( MLE)

Looks good to me I would take my chances with that Roster!

Lue is a phenomenal shooter and underrated as a pg. I am not surprised to see him on this list. He will get the vet minimum while Marbury will be asking for more than that.

I would definitely add Dahntay Jones to that list, like Roy said. Wouldn't be surprised to see Oberto as one of the eventual contacts.
