I think this is a deal that would work for both teams and is realistic. For Utah, this is mainly to clear cap space after this season, but they still get a player that makes them a contender this year.

For Boston, it allows Kirilenko to go back to being a 3/4 who can focus on D, get points in transition. It would give us a bunch of options to run at teams. Getting Brewer is mainly for taking all or Kirilenko's salary. Word is most teams are insisting on getting New Yorks unprotected no. 1 pick which Utah owns to take Kirilenko. Utah refuses even though they are buried under the cap. I think he could help us and Brewer is a much better sacrifice than that no. 1 pick for Utah. He also would make a great back-court combo with Rondo.

This trade helps both teams both in the near term and over the long haul. Thoughts?

I'd rather have Allen than Kirilenko with the way he fits within this system. There is a reason why teams want NY's #1.

The damage Isiah did to that franchise will linger a long long time.

The Knicks are going to be awful this year, which is the only reason I would even think about this deal.  I love AK47, but I have to agree that he doesn't fit as well as Ray does.  PP and KG are players you have to fit guys around, and I can't picture AK being a better fit than Ray.  The NY pick would be fantastic, but this year's draft was awful, and I'm not yet convinced that next year will be any better.  That would kill us.

I would never get near AK-47s contract.  THAT IS A BAD CONTRACT!  I'm not talking about the player, he's solid, but clearly not close to the caliber when he signed that contract!

I love AK47.  He would be perfect off the bench.  Not sure I would give up Ray for him though.

Theoretically, I like the trade, because Brewer is an incredibly talented player and will be a solid starting 2 for a long time. I also like Kirilenko's game, albeit at about half (or less than that) of what he's making now. We'd take a hit at 2 guard but get a huge improvement in the bench.

Unfortunately, Brewer could never coexist with Rondo in the backcourt. Neither of them can shoot. Both get to the basket on penetration and finish around the basket - that's why both were above 50% on FGs despite the fact they can't shoot. Both are good defenders, Brewer probably a little better because of his size (6'7"). But the complete inability of our backcourt to hit open shots will kill us.

TP for the idea though.
Go Celtics.
