I can't figure out what Detroit is trying to do, but they seem to reloading entirely.  A re-signed Wallace at 8 million or so a year, plus Hamilton's 12 million equals Ray Allen's contract.

Would Detroit want to get out of Hamilton's contract now that they have Ben Gordon?  We could sweeten the pot a bit if needed with money/a draft pick/etc.

We'd replace Ray Allen with a younger a cheaper Hamilton, pick up Wallace as our 6th man, and still have the full MLE to spend if we saw fit.

any chance this happens?

With Dumars at GM, anything is possible.

To be honest, the Pistons should be sweetening the pot with that Rip overpay. But this is the real world and Dumars is not going to admit he made a mistake a half yr later, so I doubt the trade would go down.

And just thought that this trade might really put the Pistons way over the luxury tax this yr.

It would make alottt of sense for both sides. I mean could you imagine a team of.

Rondo/Marbury/Pruitt
Artest/House/TA
Pierce/Hamilton/Walker
Garnett/BBD/Scalibrine
Perkins/Wallace/Oberto

(couldn't decide who to have off the bench, but i figured it would be easier to convince artest to come her with a starting gig involved.)

Where do you see that Detroit is resigning Rasheed for $8 mill per???

Haven't seen anything official, but this would be a way for us to "pay" more for Wallace than the straight up MLE.  There's lots of wiggle room on both sides with this deal, but the framework of the deal sounds intriguing to me.  Just my idea, i haven't heard anything close to an official rumor on this.

this actually makes too much sense to not be true - c's get their fa, ray for hamilton is a wash, pistons get financial flexibility so they can sign a big name from the 03 draft class like Wade or Bosh or Darko, oh wait

I don't think we trade any of our core now. I think it is strictly FA additions.

The only trade I can see is moving Scal and TA's expiring deals for a 3/4 type player or possibly combining them with a BBD sign and trade for a player that would match in salary.

Ray won't be moved...the whole appeal for sheed coming here in the first place is a chance to play next to the big three...that can't happen if ray is dealt.

wake up people. This isn't La La Land. Ainge said numerous times the starting 5 is staying put. Why mess up a good thing? Not only will ray stay, he will likely sign an extension.

I'd rather have Allen on a 1 year contract and Wallace for the MLE.
