I may have misunderstood Tanguay, but if I did understand what he was saying, is it really possible that he has as poor an understanding of the NBA salary cap as it appeared?
He seemed to be suggesting that the C's may contemplating paying an extra couple of million for Rasheed to get closer to the 8 million that Sheed said he wanted in order to keep playing.  Tanguay went on to suggest that the extra 2 million would then cost the C's 4 million as they'd then be over the luxury tax.  This is an apparent complete misunderstanding -- not only of how the MLE works but also where the C's are at present vis a vis the luxury tax.  The C's clearly can offer no more than the MLE (around 5.5 million?) and since the C's are already well across the luxury tax threshold, I believe everything they pay out from this point forward (with I think the exception of veteran mimimum salaries) count as luxury taxable. Glad to be corrected on this -- I may not have it completely correct, but I am sure (if I heard him correctly) that Tanguay showed an embarrassingly poor understanding of the NBA salary cap.

Heard that too. Wouldn't surprise me. Reporters haven't been doing their research lately. I remember when Rondo went to China and we all knew it here, and when he came back, WEEI reporters were shocked he was in China and asked him what he was doing.

I understand the situation as you do, and as I think Tanguay is wrong this wouldn't be the first time he said something stupid regarding our cap situation.

i dont know. If one of them is in the game he might not be focused because he's worried about the other eating all his Sour patch kids on the bench. lol

Tanguay said Sheed's family was coming either earlier today or yesterday. That school and house thing might just be an assumption on his part.

I would love to have Odom, but we would still be missing a backup center and SF. Odom's ability to facilitate would be great for House off the bench, and if we go small with Odom at PF and KG at C, we are able to go small without actually being small.
