Considering how soft Charlie V plays, they are essentially starting 5 shooting guards next year with Stuckey, Rip and Prince all entrenched.

This is further justification for my thinking that those Ray/Rondo to Detroit trade rumors were ubsurd.  If you are going to sign Ben Gordon and Charlie V long term, aren't you better off with Ray Allen's expiring deal and a true pg in Rondo?

And to think that I got flamed by the mods for calling BS on all thier pre-draft trade hype...    ::)

Detroit now has no balance, and that's one less team that can offer cap space to the rest of the big dog FA's.  They'll be a good team for us to warm up on in the 1st round next year.

what does this leave their team looking like? Is Ben Gordon going to be coming off the bench or does Rip Hamilton get the sixth man duties?
I bet Rip will be the 6th.

I don't understand the Gordon signing at all. Dumars signed Rip Hamilton to a three-year extension after this coming year, worth about $38 million.

Huge mistake by Dumars. Somehow he has to turn Hamilton into a big man. Maybe he can work something out with Utah for Boozer.
I would think that he must have something like that in mind because they dont really have a starting center.  This also could be the softest team in basketball whomever they start

Atleast Charle V did'nt go to the Cavs. Not that he would help them much but one less guy for them I guess. 5 years 55 mill for Gordan is nuts.

My guess is they're gonna move Rip.  Who knows, maybe even something with Utah with Rip and Boozer as the major pieces.

He was perfect playing SG next to a big PG like Rose.

You mean a big PG like Rose was perfect for him?
I´m sure Rose could co-exist with another big guard.

Anyway, that is definitly too much money for both of them.
If nothing else happens, then this was a terrible off-season by Dumars.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

128 million to getting up there in age Rip, an undersized SG Gordon, and a seldom interested Charlie.

Word to the wise, just b/c you win a championship once doesn't make you a great GM.

They could offer Rip Hamilton to the Clippers for Chris Kaman.   Local kid.  Both players locked into a 3 year deal and frees up time for Blake Griffin.

Yeah, that would make sense.  If they got a good center for one of their not-quite-all-star SG's (gordon and rip) they could be a solid team.

Trading for Boozer with Utah (at one point one of their FA targets) would also make sense.

Utah has a jam at the PF position (Millsap ought to start for them) and they could use a better SG (Ronnie Brewer is good but not nearly as good as Rip).

What exactly is Dumars plan right now?   ???

He's gotta move someone, doesn't he?

Rip would be superfluous with Eric Gordon already on the Clippers. You don't want to pay 13 million a yr to an older back-up.

Rip could play SF for them, he's big enough.
