I'm not a big fan of Oberto and I don't specially want to see him in green, at least not as one of our priority big men backup. But many people here would like to sign him, so here is the news :

Quote
The Pistons did waive Fabricio Oberto on Tuesday, which will save them about $1.7 million. His contract was worth $3.5 million this season, but only $1.8 million of it was guaranteed.

MLE = big man
LLE = wing

Everyone else gets a minimum contract. That means you Oberto!

Oberto is getting the Minimun either in SA or somewhere else.

So Dumars spends 90 million today, but would rather pay 1.8 million to buy Oberto out to save 1.7 million?

He didn't buy out Oberto and he didn't pay 1.8 million to do so.

He waived Oberto before the 1.7 became guaranteed. The 1.8 million was a sunk cost. The question was whether they felt Oberto was worth 1.7 million for them. Apparently they don't feel he is worth 1.7 million for their team.
