As Portland pursues Hedo Turkoglu, they have angered Rudy Fernandez in the process, according to sources.

Fernandez would prefer to play in Greece, Russia or even Spain again.

A league source told ESPN.com that Fernandez has already been courted informally by European powerhouses Olympiacos, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and CSKA Moscow.

Fernandez, who paid more than $500,000 of his own money to buy his way out of his contract with DKV Joventut, believes he can earn 5 million euros per season if he signs a three-year contract in Europe. He is due to make $1.1 million from the Blazers next season.

The problem for Fernandez from a leverage standpoint is that he is entering the second year of his NBA rookie contract, and the Blazers have the option to re-sign him for a third and/or fourth season. Fernandez would have to be released from his NBA contract in order to receive a letter of clearance from FIBA, the sport's international governing body, to play elsewhere.

The Blazers have been made aware of Fernandez's feelings, the source said.

Seems like a bit of a baby , but is very talented. I wonder if Portland would consider trading him. He would be a perfect backup for Ray and could replace Ray as a starter next year.

BOS SENDS: Walker, Giddens, future 1st

Por Sends: Rudy

Why do you say he's "Laker soft?"  I wanted them to purchase that pick back from the Suns two yrs ago and draft Rudy. Now it would cost more, but still would love to see him in green.

Does he not know how the NBA salary system is set up? You prove yourself on a rookie contract and if you play well, you will make more money.

I don't see how going pursuing Turk affects Rudy. Rudy is a SG.

The player in front of Rudy on POR is Roy.

If you were Minny would you offer Flynn for Rudy and Outlaw? Rudy would probably grease the wheels for Rubio to come over.

Rubio
Rudy
Outlaw
Love
Jefferson

Might be the most exciting team in the league. Would have growing pains and I'd sign a couple veterans as backups (plenty of cap space), but this roster would put Minny on the map.

You know what, I think I kind of agree with Rudy on this one.  Why is Portland pursuing Hedo so hard?  They have 3 very capable small forwards on that team, with Rudy being the most promising of the group.  Hedo is 30 years old, has clearly peaked as a player, and may not even be as good as Fernandez in many areas of the game.  So why are they chasing him?

Because they have a ton of talent but most of it is very young so they need a guy who has playoffs experience.

For the Blazers to get some success in the playoffs now instead of 3 or 4 years from now they need to trade some of their young pieces and collect some more experienced guys to go around oden, roy, and aldridge.  Getting Hinrich like they are supposedly trying to do would be a start.  Getting Hedo would be the next step.

In my opinion, Rudy = the next Ginobli. He's already good at driving and dunking like Manu, and shoots the three maybe better. The only problem is that Ginobli is better at defense, and thats mainly because he draws charges(he's the master of flopping), but Rudy can learn that given time.

I would do this with no hesitation, but i doubt Portland would consider it. He's athletic, can shoot and has legit length at 6'6''...they know he's more valuable than that.

I don't see why he's so upset? i thought he was more of a sg anyway (behind roy). Did Portland start him at the SF at some point?

It's funny, I learned about rudy by playing nba2k9 online. He could do a lot in the video game so i started watching him in real life. He's got skills.

please don't overvalue him. Can he create his own shot? No. He is just 3point shooter. Eddie already has that role. Outlaw is the better player.
