Yeah, if those guys get more than the MLE, it's going to be back where they just were, since nobody who wants veterans (except Detroit and Portland, which only has room for one above-MLE offer) has any money to offer. When Detroit signs Gordon for $8 mil a year, they're down to one more above-MLE signing. I think Odom's options will be Detroit or LA, and he'll stay in LA. Maybe Detroit offers some money to Okur if Odom doesn't work out.
My biggest wish from that list - Detroit offers Charlie Villanueva around $5-6 mil a year, and Cleveland counters and gets Villanueva for the full midlevel. That would be great. Cleveland would lose the max cap space for 2010, so they resign Varejao. Cleveland in the end replaces Ben Wallace with Shaq and Wally/Pavlovic with Villanueva. They'd improve, but not by enough. And that's one more team out of the MLE bidding contests between Boston, SA, Dallas, maybe LA (if they let Odom or Ariza walk), maybe Orlando (if they let Turk AND Gortat walk), maybe Chicago and maybe Miami.
