Personally, I believe Phoenix should just offer Earl Clark and Leandro Barbosa for Brian Cardinal and Ricky Rubio.  They get a young player they can market in Rubio.

Another thought is a three way deal

To Boston: Amare Stoudamire and Jason Richardson
To Minnesota: Kendrick Perkins and JR Giddens
To Phoenix: Ray Allen, Ricky Rubio, Tony Allen  and Brian Cardinal

Phoenix gets a ton of salary flexibility with the expiring contracts of Cardinal and the two Allen's.  They also get a talented young G in Rubio who they can market to their fans.

Minnesota gets a center, so they can move Jefferson back to PF.  They can deal with Love and Jefferson better and also get a good return for Rubio

Boston gets a young player in Stoudamire with massive upside and an effective albeit overpaid SG)

No way Minnesota does this.  They would need a top-3 protected future #1 also.  They value Rubio too much to give him up just for Perkins in my opinion.

I like this idea though.

How about (combining your ideas)...I don't know if this works out bc ESPN hasn't updated their trade machine, but it should be in the ball park:

BOS gets: Amare, Barbosa, Clark
PHX gets: Rubio, R. Allen, Cardinal, lottery-protected MIN future 1st
MIN gets: Perkins, T. Allen, future top-3 protected BOS 1st

Good centers are hard to get especially young ones locked into reasonable contracts.

While I know the hype machine with Rubio is at an all time high, the reality is the guy was the 5th pick in the worst draft in the past two decades.

Minnie would not give up Rubio just to get Kendrick Perkins.

Looks like it works under the cap to me

It works under the cap but we'll have a ton of salary tied up in Richardson and Amare

Agree and that is the risk to the Celtics.  I personally hate Richardson's contract and feel he is overpaid, but getting Stoudamire is worth it.

As far as Rubio's worth, IMO, it is around Miller/Foye with taking the crappy contract of Darius Songalia.   Ultimately, some may want to make him the next coming of Pete Maravich.  He's the 5th pick in a weak draft.

Personally feel that Earl Clark and Leandro Barbosa for Brian Cardinal and Ricky Rubio makes a lot of sense if Phoenix is looking to get rid of contracts.
