First of all I doubt this is a reliable source. If Marion were to sign with a contender he would still want the full MLE.
Second of all I'm not so sure that Cleveland or Boston for that matter can beat a Magic team that could add Vince, Marion and Sheed. I obviously hope you are right but this does make me nervous.

They'd be losing Hedo though. Still the Magic would be very tough to beat in that case. I don't think they'll get Marion and Sheed though, both will want the full MLE.

Good, now that I think about it, the Magic are getting better but losing Hedo destroys the match up advantage that caused them to beat Cleveland. Having two 6'10 wing players really hurt the Cavs and that's why the magic won. I don't believe that they are better than Cleveland just a bad match up for them.

Baseball is a sport that happens when it's warm out so it doesn't really matter that Boston is cold. Football players are tough (so they don't mind playing in cold) and playing for a modern dynasty is always a plus.
Once the Celtics are good for a few more years the Celtics mystique will return and free agents will want to come here.

That's a good point about Boston being cold. Sometimes it doesn't seem this affects other cold places as much though, like Chicago and New York. But they're bigger cities. It doesn't seem like warm cities have a huge edge though. I guess Miami, LA, Orlando, and Dallas all did pretty well at times though

I don't understand why free-agents don't like Boston?  Also I would try to see if they could sign Marion for not all the 5 million so we could sign one or two other players but I doubt that Marion will take less than 5 million even though hoopshype says that he said he'd take the veterans minimum

From what I heard it's all about the off-court life style.  The cold, the clubs, the social life in Boston isn't the same as it is in other cities.

Marion would be a perfect 6th man for this ball club. If he gets any offers under the full MLE Danny has to be right there knocking on his door with a contract in hand.

Tax considerations add up.  It's why places like Texas and Florida are so appealing.   Marion likes starting too much to consider going for a 6th man role.

What is hard to understand. NBA players want to live somewhere comfortable, that they enjoy, and make a ton of money.

Most players approach playing as a job, not as a passion.

It's true though. Go back and look at the FAs Boston has landed in the last 20 years. I can remember over paying for Danna Barros, Travis Knight, Pervis Ellison, and Calbert Chaney. I can also remember us over paying for former all-stars way past their prime in Dominique Wilkins and Xavier McDaniel. Besides Posey, for 1 year, I can't remember getting someone of real value through the fa market.

Any time he's on the floor with Rondo and Perkins, he's at least the 3rd option - and that's assuming Pierce, Garnett and/or Allen are on the floor.

And the way free agency is shaping up, we're not going to scare anyone with this bench again.
