According to hoopshype, they say he could sign for vet min to be on a contender. They linked Orlando to the possibility. This is on hoopshype.

Surely he'll take Boston at 5 mil over Orlando at the vet min?

I wouldn't bet on it.  Free Agents do not like Boston.

If this is true, I think that we can really start to worry about our future bench because it seems that every good free agent doesn't like Boston at all...

I don't understand why free-agents don't like Boston?  Also I would try to see if they could sign Marion for not all the 5 million so we could sign one or two other players but I doubt that Marion will take less than 5 million even though hoopshype says that he said he'd take the veterans minimum

The media? I guess if you're into getting all kinds of attention and stuff you'd want to go NY or LA (well LA has a soft media).

I remember Nomar, when he went to LA how drastic the difference and how he can finally relax and just play.

Also, I remember hearing that D'Antoni, use to tell reporters to write good stories about Marion, and tell them to bring his name up to boost his confidence, he could get eaten alive here in Boston.

Also the night life is a bunch of college kids puking. If Boston has the kind of clubs NBA stars want to go to, then I must be going to the wrong places.

Marion would be sweet (upgrade over 2007-08 Posey?).

I wouldn't bet on him signing for the veteran's minimum. He'll get much more money than that.

that was pure speculation on the writer's part

if someone would pick Orlando over Boston for the weather, more power to them - enjoy getting beat in the 2nd round by a better Cleveland or a healthy Boston

First of all I doubt this is a reliable source. If Marion were to sign with a contender he would still want the full MLE.
Second of all I'm not so sure that Cleveland or Boston for that matter can beat a Magic team that could add Vince, Marion and Sheed. I obviously hope you are right but this does make me nervous.

I agree but find this odd. It seems like the Sox and Pats get good FAs and not the Celts and I can never figure that out

They'd be losing Hedo though. Still the Magic would be very tough to beat in that case. I don't think they'll get Marion and Sheed though, both will want the full MLE.

there is no way they get both, they don't have the $ for both.

Baseball is a sport that happens when it's warm out so it doesn't really matter that Boston is cold. Football players are tough (so they don't mind playing in cold) and playing for a modern dynasty is always a plus.
Once the Celtics are good for a few more years the Celtics mystique will return and free agents will want to come here.

Marion taking a minimum contract is pure crap.
