doomed. i tell you we are doomed.

blow out the pilot light and put your head into the oven.

load the revolver, spin, and pull the trigger.

drive on out to a near by bridge and take a flying leap.

take a long walk off a short ledge attached to a tall building.

turn on the TV and watch dancing with the stars.

however you want to end it, go ahead. we are doomed...

 ;D
exactly, the rest of us will watch the games and cheer.  Look, draft night is exiting, but it's not going to affect THIS years champion.  Today is mostly about the fun of trading in future stocks.

Honestly, if we get lucky with nothing more than the MLE we are GREEN and good.

"lucky" is the key word there.  we are going to have to get very lucky on the FA market this summer to upgrade our team in accordance with the other upgrades happening around the league

Houston won't actually be better unless Yao is healthy - assuming that Amare deal actually happens.

Orlando won't be better unless they hold onto Hedo.  They're also probably losing Marcin Gortat in free agency.

The Spurs are still a good PF / C away from being a true contender.  They also have big question marks as to whether they can stay healthy for a full season anymore.

The Cavs got better, but how much better remains to be seen.  Shaq and Big Z will have to share minutes, and both of them are pretty much due for an injury this season.  Shaq is really old.  The Cavs are still a solid wing player away from being really great.  They also could lose Varejao to free agency.

The Lakers need to hold onto Odom and Ariza, and it remains to be seen if they will accomplish that.  They also could use an upgrade at PG.  We'll see if Bynum can stay healthy for a whole season and actually live up to even 20% of his potential.

I understand the urge to feel a little desperate after seeing the other rival contenders in the league looking to upgrade their rosters, but there are still a TON of question marks left before we even have an idea who the real favorite for the title next year is going to be.

Just sitting here watching the Celtics slip away. This is pathetic.

Really?

Which draft pick to a contender has you shaking in your boots?

If I hear the if healthy story one more time....."If I were born into a rich family I would have"....same logic. The C's had injuries to one player who has a ton of miles on the tires in Garnett and a player with a history of knee problems. Because we had no bench, we lost. Who in free agency is going to put us ahead of Cleveland or Orlando? If Orlando gets Vince, no one does. Cleveland is going to have players lined up to play with Shaq and LeBron. I would not be surprised if Marion to a discount to get a ring. Seriously everybody, take off the hometown blinders abd look at things objectively. We are the third best team in the East right now.

Again, this is ridiculous too.  Despite all the tinkering the Cavs and Magic have done, if they lost LeBron or Howard(like we did with Garnett), all the bench in the world isn't going to get them a title.

To keep this in perspective, the Celtics teams of the 60s failed to win what would've been their 9th title in a row because Russell got hurt.  And that team had multiple Hall of Famers on it.

Our guys who are in their thirties are far more likely to get hurt or fatigue by season's end than Lebron or Howard. Ask any thirty year old here on this blog if they are better physically now than in there twenties.

And Orlando and Cleveland added players in their 30s.

I was commenting on the fact we have done nothing to improve while almost all the contenders have. In addition, Ainge threw Rondo under the bus to the media over the last few days. Real smart.

The thirty year-olds they have added do not need to be the main guys. Our three do. Stop and put down the Kool-Aid and take a look at what is going on. We have to keep a 32 year-old (PP), a 33 year-old (KJ) and a 34 year-old (RA)Healthy and rested. A little historical perspective: Back in 87' when we lost to LA and then never got back to the finals, Bird was 32, DJ was 33, Parish 34 and Kevin was 30. That team was old. It was the reason people thought they lost to LA after barely getting by the younger Detroit team. We even have mentioned on this blog how that team was allowed to get old. Hell, EVEN DANNY TALKS ABOUT IT! How am I so negative in pointing out and being down on the Celtics?

This thread makes me think of this guy.

IMO, I'm glad we've stood pat.  Now, Danny has to go to work to build our bench hopefully by trading expiring contracts (not Ray Allen) for a solid option and getting some guys to agree to come to Boston for the "championship".

Crackwise all you want timepiece. Cleveland will be able to get better players for the "Championship" than we will. I am looking forward to coming back in mid-july to discuss it.

You are looking forward to it?   Are you the type of fan that would rather be right than have your team win?  OK.

Cleveland got better, but also made a deal that clogged the middle with Varajeo and O'Neal.   Orlando is over the cap and might have a hard time retaining Turkoglu (who is better than Carter).

Right now, I believe we were a healthy Kevin Garnett away from winning two in a row.

I am the type of fan that is realistic. I waited 22 years to see the Celtics win again. I will always love them. I just can see when other teams are passing them by.
