Well, Ainge is trying; I'm sure you've seen all the rumors.

Let's at least wait for the off-season to officially begin (July 8 ) before drawing any rash conclusions.

I'm waiting until July 2 because that's when all the rumors will start flying. We're gonna know pretty quick which players are on Danny's radar....

If "if's" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we would all have a Happy Christmas. Powe WAS injured, Garnett WAS injured. We picked up to players in Moore and Marbury at the deadline that were as useful as tits on a bull. Look, I will offer up a zillion mea culpas if I am wrong but I just do not see this team holding up over 82 games, I do not see a free agent we could realistically get that puts us over the top. I think we need to shake up the roster, mainly by trading Ray Allen and trying to buy a pick in the mid to late first round. I do not think the C's will win a title by standing pat today. If that makes me this gloom and doom, negative naybob, then so be it. Look at the national press, they seem to agree with me.

trading ray allen alone, likely wont get anyone back at his level, unless he is packaged with someone.

and what the heck is a mid to late first round pick from this draft going to do for us  ???

The National Press also said the c's would take at least two years to win a championship, and we dominated the league right away.

Just a bad example dude.

none of the guys being picked up are fits in Boston.  They all could be had... none of them make sense.  You want to pay Richard Jefferson or Vince Carter 15 mil to come off the bench?  Is that really the smartest idea?  Or do you expect either of those guys to start over the big 3?

Shaq's a poor fit.

Crawford sucks.

I think Ainge can find a diamond in the rough between picks 17 and 30. I would package some filler with Allen. So I guess you all think we will be fine? I just do not see it that way, sorry. Not with the other teams improving as they have.

we need solid veterans off the bench. our starters are fine.  your taking a gamble with "a diamond in the rough", especially since our championship window isnt big...we are in win now mode.

if tyler hansbrough ever slipped to the mid to late first round and we had a pick....id scoop him in a heartbeat!

I would snap him up too. I guess if we could see something from either Giddens or Walker and then get Iverson to chase a ring on the cheap we would be ok. I just have my doubts. Look, I have supported the Celtics through thick and very thin, I will always back them up. I am worried they simply will not do enough to put a solid team out there so when injury hits, we can ride it out. Our top three are just too old to not have them backed up. Particularly when Doc insists on playing them into the ground. By the way, does anyone have a theory as to why Ainge has aired all this dirty laundry about Rondo? It seems that it would be counter productive no matter what the teams plans are. Trading or keeping Rajon. Either way it hurts the team.

I have to agree with ctrey a bit on this one. If we do nothing tonight, I for one will be disappointed. McDyess will be helpful, but there are indeed some drastic changes going on right now. Shaq DOES improve the Cavs, regardless of people thinking he is done. He had a resurgence last year playing with the same Phoenix tram that was trying to get him to run himself into the ground the year before. He was definitely the caboose on their train. Cleveland is more tailored to the halfcourt game, and he showed this year he can still play. 18 and 9 are solid numbers.

Vince definitely improves the Magic by being a slasher and able to hit the outside J as well. And those are two teams we will have to contend with coming out of the east.

Marbury and Moore were indeed as useful as tits on a bull.

At the very least, I want to see us buy a pick by the 21st in the draft. But would love to see a package of Scal, Tony and House traded for someone we could use.

Shaq doesn't have the outside shot that Big Z hurts us with. Old Man Shaq can get ok numbers, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that he is nothing Perk can't handle.

Orlando made a terrible move, a panic move. Rafer Alston hurt us. Their defense at the 2/3 hurt us, and wherever they play Vince Carter, it will be a lot worse with him on the floor. They didn't have any problem scoring points on jumpers far from the basket.

I feel bad for Rafer Alston. He had an awesome playoff run, deserved to keep the starting job, and nobody noticed except maybe New Jersey I guess. Nobody in Orlando anyway.

It seems everybody who can be called a contender is making moves to improve today. Orlando, Spurs, Rockets, and Cavs are all making things happen while we are silent. If Ainge misses the boat on this it will be entirely on him and the C's will go down as a team that rented the title for a year while wiping out their future. Do not give me the BS that if healthy...blah, blah blah. We have a zero bench and I will bet my yearly salary that one of the big 3 will break down by playoff time next year.

thats the problem with alot of people, they want instant gratification.  the draft hasnt even occurred yet.  i expect we make our moves after the draft in the free agent market.

dont forget our start to the season last season before all the injuries.  we have one of best starting lineups in the league.  if we are able to fill bench spots, we are golden.

patience

I sure hope Danny makes a move. I don't think you can count on FAs signing in Boston. All these other teams are becoming as or more appealing than the Celtics to win a title. And it's not like we have more money to offer.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

So this isn't a thread about a recent Jim Rome interview with Danny Ainge in which Danny Ainge was fiddling on a roof top somewhere?

Remember when the Nets were trying to get Lebron? They were moving to Brooklyn and Lebron's buddy Jay-Z was their owner. Then we stopped hearing about this. Any chance that the Nets trade up in the draft to get another Lebron buddy, Stephon Curry and then have enough cap space to sign Lebron and Bosh next year?

Harris
Lee
Lebron
Bosh
Lopez

With Curry as the third guard would be tough. Are the Nets sleepers for Lebron?

EDIT: Creating a new thread on so as not to hijack. Amare actually might be more realistic than Bosh as well.
