It seems everybody who can be called a contender is making moves to improve today. Orlando, Spurs, Rockets, and Cavs are all making things happen while we are silent. If Ainge misses the boat on this it will be entirely on him and the C's will go down as a team that rented the title for a year while wiping out their future. Do not give me the BS that if healthy...blah, blah blah. We have a zero bench and I will bet my yearly salary that one of the big 3 will break down by playoff time next year.

Well, Ainge is trying; I'm sure you've seen all the rumors.

Let's at least wait for the off-season to officially begin (July 8 ) before drawing any rash conclusions.

I agree. I have seen a lot of trades involving the Celtics that haven't involved any draft picks. We are contending and it is very unlikely that a draft pick will help our cause and we have the 58th pick, which a WNBA team could buy off of us.

It doesn't need to happen tonight. Might be better in July/August or the first few months after a team realizes that it sucks, like the Raptors or Suns, just as examples.

Whoa buddy!  Deep breath time.  First off, Free Agency, where will we do most of our roster tinkering begins July 1.  And secondly, they are fiddling with their rosters to beat US and the Lakers.  We, if healthy, definitely would've won the east again, and probably the NBA Finals.

Chill out man.  Ainge will add the right vets to the puzzle in free agency.

If I hear the if healthy story one more time....."If I were born into a rich family I would have"....same logic. The C's had injuries to one player who has a ton of miles on the tires in Garnett and a player with a history of knee problems. Because we had no bench, we lost. Who in free agency is going to put us ahead of Cleveland or Orlando? If Orlando gets Vince, no one does. Cleveland is going to have players lined up to play with Shaq and LeBron. I would not be surprised if Marion to a discount to get a ring. Seriously everybody, take off the hometown blinders abd look at things objectively. We are the third best team in the East right now.

We won a championship with pretty much the same exact team the year before.

If we just had Leon Powe, we would've beat Orlando.  That series went 7 games if your memory has lost you already.

doomed. i tell you we are doomed.

blow out the pilot light and put your head into the oven.

load the revolver, spin, and pull the trigger.

drive on out to a near by bridge and take a flying leap.

take a long walk off a short ledge attached to a tall building.

turn on the TV and watch dancing with the stars.

however you want to end it, go ahead. we are doomed...

Houston won't actually be better unless Yao is healthy - assuming that Amare deal actually happens.

Orlando won't be better unless they hold onto Hedo.  They're also probably losing Marcin Gortat in free agency.

The Spurs are still a good PF / C away from being a true contender.  They also have big question marks as to whether they can stay healthy for a full season anymore.

The Cavs got better, but how much better remains to be seen.  Shaq and Big Z will have to share minutes, and both of them are pretty much due for an injury this season.  Shaq is really old.  The Cavs are still a solid wing player away from being really great.  They also could lose Varejao to free agency.

The Lakers need to hold onto Odom and Ariza, and it remains to be seen if they will accomplish that.  They also could use an upgrade at PG.  We'll see if Bynum can stay healthy for a whole season and actually live up to even 20% of his potential.

I understand the urge to feel a little desperate after seeing the other rival contenders in the league looking to upgrade their rosters, but there are still a TON of question marks left before we even have an idea who the real favorite for the title next year is going to be.

Too bad he has to go through another setback. We can't wait for his return, Ainge needs to get to work.

Umm, obviously if the Magic get Vince while simultaneously resigning Hedo then they have to be the favs in the East. However, I don't think that is possible. And I live in Phoenix and have attended Suns games. Shaq was a phenomenal bust for them, one of their worst trades ever. The guy is a walking albatross and fundamentally changes any team's make-up when he arrives. I think it is a surefire desperation move.

Now the Spurs added a nice piece, but RJ is not a difference maker in the mold of a KG or something. They still have work to do..

First off, adding one player to Orlando isn't going to make it automatically better than the C's. All they'd by adding Vince is add to the fact that they live and die by the outside shot. When their shots fall, they're great. When they're cold, they can be completely picked apart. They have a great post player in Howard, but he's weak offensively. Move him three feet from the basket and he can't hit the broad side of a barn. Perk has a better range than Howard and he can handle him just fine on defense. The only thing the Celtics have to worry about, then, is whether the outside shots happen to go down in a particular game. So I don't think it's time to panic and concede to Orlando if they pick up Vince. Both he and Shaq are getting on in years, and you never know if Vince is going to show up to play or not.

I think Danny has been doing his fair share of scoping out the waters. I'm inclined to believe that one or two of these celtic trade rumors might have actually been proposed, but not accepted. With all the rumors going on around the celtics, DA certainly hasn't just been sitting around. We have two months left and were going to be doing most of our acquisitions from the free agent market, anyway.

thats the problem with alot of people, they want instant gratification.  the draft hasnt even occurred yet.  i expect we make our moves after the draft in the free agent market.

dont forget our start to the season last season before all the injuries.  we have one of best starting lineups in the league.  if we are able to fill bench spots, we are golden.

patience

And let's not forget, Danny's work can't begin until July 1.

We don't have a bunch of expiring useless contracts to toss around, which is what most of these deals have been.

In order for us to make a move, we have to give up Ray Allen.  You don't just give up Ray Allen because everyone else is making moves.
