It sounds like a nonsense rumour.
Maybe, but Gasol to the Fakers did too.  Nothing surprises me anymore.
If it actually saved the Suns money it might make sense, but it doesn't. Unless T-Mac is so bad insurance will pay his contract.

I *think* that's part of it. I don't remember from where that I read that T-Mac's contract is insured.

Edit: from the Houston Chronicle blog:

"McGrady's contract is huge ($22.5 million next season) and then it expires. Until he plays, insurance can take care of the cost through sometime next February. And teams all know this.

A team looking to cut salary, can send the Rockets a big contract, take back McGrady's for one season and pay him only a portion of that money. Plus, he seems driven to come back, and to prove something in a contract year."

Most player's contracts have insurance, it is a matter of whether or not they can claim it. I doubt it as T-Mac is certainly going to try and play next year.

You think this means nash would be available to us in a maybe a 3 way deal for rondo.  Then we compete this year, while gaining a large expiring contract for 2010?
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

I think that's a money issue that can't be overcome. Basically almost any deal in which we net Steve Nash means we either A) Trade RA along with Rondo, or B) We trade the rest of our roster, besides Allen, Garnett, Pierce, and Perkins.

Right, the microfracture rehab/healing will take 6-12 months. There's a pretty good chance that he won't be back until the max time alloted for his injury to heal which would be around the time of the All-Star break.

Good link about T-Mac's contract, so it would save them quite a bit of money.

That bleacherreport link is bogus (not found).

Doesn't mean there isn't smoke behind this. Amare and Barbosa for expiring and marginal talent in Brooks and Landry? I gotta think Phoenix can do better.

No Cuban was right. Nash's body can handle a whole season plus the finals.

Also - we already won with Rondo, why try to upgrade.

Ever since that trade I can't look at trades the same way. The Shaq trade is like that too

Rockets could be really good this upcoming year, assuming they resign Artest.

Doesn't Nash have a team option?  Have the Suns picked it up yet?  Could he be a free agent this year?

Yes, he does. So he could walk (to New York, I presume).

If the Rockets get this deal to go down they have to hope and pray that both Amare and Yao come back healthy.

I read Yao's injury isn't healing as expected, which could be awful news for them.  If Amare doesn't come back 100%, then this deal won't look so great.

I guess we'll see.
