With the Clippers desperate to create playing time for Blake Griffin & the Celtics looking for Big active bodies coming off of the bench. Expect to see something like this! And let me say it first that I wouldn't like this trade that much but I would understand the principles of such a deal.

Celtics Sends: Ray Allen & J.R. Giddens

Clippers Sends: Zach Randolph, Eric Gordon & a unprotected 1st round pick in 2010 or Al Thornton.

This trade would give Boston A ready made starting lineup come 2012 if we choose to resign all the parts we receive while staying competitive now. And we maximize Ray Allen's contract. Of course even I don't view Zach as maximizing, but it would give us this nucleus of young players at every position.

2012 lineup
C  : Kendrick Perkins
PF : Zach Randolph
SF : Al Thornton or that unprotected maybe top 1-5 pick
SG : Eric Gordon
PG : Rajon Rondo

And come 2012 there would probably only be a handful of teams that may be a better young unit in the league on paper as Kobe, Pierce, Duncan, the entire old gaurd teams will be washed up. I can only think of Portland assuming they stay together Orlando, Any Lebron team, Oklahoma City assuming Durant stays that I can say would automatically be better on paper.

I actually like this trade for tonight's draft better for the C's but many bloggers scoff at trading Rondo.

Celtics send: Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen & salary fill to Clippers

Clippers send: Baron Davis, Eric Gordon & Marcus Camby or Kaman

What do you guys think of these deals?

the clippers arent going to move Gordon.

And I doubt the Celtics want ANYTHING to do with Randolph.

Don't hate on Eric Gordon.
That's just silly.

But no, wouldn't want any of
those trades anyway.

Move from the professionalism of Ray Allen to the cancer that is Zach Randolph?  I don't believe that either Al Thornton OR Eric Gordon is worth that AND I don't believe the Clippers would give you both Thornton and a lottery protected #1 in that case.

Rondo and Allen for Davis, Gordon, and Camby.  That is something I might consider.  You are swapping a young PG for a young SG and you do a veteran swap.

TP Timepiece33, that deal makes sense.

I'd even do a Ray allen for Gordon and Camby deal.  The Clips desperately want to move one of thier expensive front court pieces to make room for Griffen and Camby would be stellar off the bench for us.

It'd also give the Clips one of the best backcourt in the NBA... for one or two years.

They'd be giving up an awful lot just to dump Baron Davis and his contract. I don't think the Clippers do that deal.

I think I'd rather pick up smoking crack than root for Zach Randolph.

Zach Randolph?  No way.  Wouldn't mind Camby though.  ;)

I don't care what the 2012 lineup looks like the if the 2010 lineup can't win the title.

I don't trust any lineup with Zach Randolph to win the title.

Why would they ever want to add Randolph?
