Yeah, that's a pretty ridiculous statement. First, we paid a heavy price for KG. Second, Ainge also made a very good trade to get Ray, and his draft picks have been spectacular overall. I mean, if Ainge doesn't draft Big Al and Rondo, we don't win a championship.
yeah, any time a fan base is split on a trade (i remember a lot of "ray is too old to give up #5 and delonte for" and "al is a young star, kg gives us too short a window" sentiments) it's not a gift. gasol was a gift, there was no way to argue it was a bad trade for l.a.
To be fair, Minny did trade an Iron man all-timer for a very talented PF who has played 82 games once in 5 years.
Eh... they traded an aging big man who wanted out of town for a power forward who averaged 23 and 11 last year, who garnered all-star consideration, and who has the best post moves in the entire NBA.
Additionally, they got their starting point guard (for now, at least), their third-leading scorer, and two first rounders.
I don't really see the need to play devil's advocate here. Both teams got a good deal that served their needs at the time.
