What the T-Wolves should do with thier picks

After picking up the 5th pick in the draft to go along with thier 6th pick, I think Minnesota is clearly sitting in a good position right now. I have already seen a bunch of suggestions that have them trading both picks to grab Rubio. Now they could do that and it would be a great addition to their young team. But I think another way to help reenergize the franchise is by trading the number 5 pick to New York. The Knicks are dying to draft Steph Curry and would seem to want to do anything to move into the number five slot ahead of the Warriors. I've already seen Chad Ford say that the Knicks were serving up Wilson Chandler to Washington before the Wizards made thier trade. So now if the Wolves could somehow trade thier number 5 pick for Chandler and the number 8 pick, they would be in business. I know that is a lot to ask for, but Chandler is not going to help put fans in the stands. Steph Curry will. Also, they drafted Gallinari last year with the 6th pick who happens to play the same position as Chandler. Minnesota could take Evans with the sixth pick to replace Foye and draft a PG with the eighth pick such as Jonny Flynn (someone who i am really high on). Thier lineup would be scary for teams in a couple of years.

So if you were Minny, would you trade the #5 to NY for the #8 and Chandler?  You could draft your back court of the future at #6 and #8 and have a front court of Chandler, Love, and Al. I'd still prefer to go for Rubio, but Katz is saying that's not happening.

I think they should pick up Curry if he's still available, or else draft Harden.  Then they should get Tyreke Evans (if they got Curry) or Johnny Flynn (if they got Harden).

Well, I think Thabeet will be gone by #5 but it would've been nice to grab a true center to complement Jefferson.  I wouldn't be shocked if they did move one of these picks, though.  If they stick with both picks and Thabeet's gone, they could build themselves a young backcourt with great potential with guys like Evans, Harden, Flynn, and Curry floating around.  Try a mix from that.

Ideally, I think Thabeet and a point guard (unless Harden is there) would be the best way to go.

Yeah, but you said it yourself, Thabeet will be gone by then.  He'll be gone in the top 3.  If Memphis doesn't take him, I'm sure OKC would be glad to take him.

Yeah, but you said it yourself, Thabeet will be gone by then.  He'll be gone in the top 3.  If Memphis doesn't take him, I'm sure OKC would be glad to take him.

If that's the case (which seems likely) then build yourself a nice backcourt.  There should be plenty of guards to choose from.

I think they should trade Kevin Love and the 28th pick along with a player to the Gizzlies for the #2 and take Thabeet who is the perfect fit next to Al. The Grizz need a PF, they were very high on Love last year and there was a rumor of this deal last week. He has already proved he can be a good to very good player, also there was rumors about this deal last week

Now i think one of James Harden or Rubio to fall to 5, Id expect the Wolves to take whichever of those players slip, i expect Rubio to go to the Thunder at #3 so i think Harden falls and the Wolves take him. With the 6th pick i think they take Tyreke Evans who they love and recently worked out for them as a pg and dominated, though he clearly is more of a sg.

If i had to guess id think Love/28th pick/Gomes or Craig Smith would be enough for the 2nd considering the Grizz did take Love at #5 in a deeper draft last year, sure they traded him for Mayo but if the Wolves didnt offer that deal the Grizz would of still taken Love there. So the Wolves will still have the 18th pick, if i were them id then take Jeff Teague at 18. THen go into next year with a lineup and bench of

Andy Katz was just on ESPN and mentioned that Minnesota is now going to try and deal the #5 pick and one of their later 1st rounders and try to get into Memphis' slot at #2.  Mentioned Thabeet and Rubio as two guys to consider.  Also mentioned the possibility of acquring both.  Presumably Thabeet at #2 and Rubio falling to #6.
