Rumor (now reported by Spears) - Rondo to Memphis?

I don't even like Gay's game that much. I don't look at him as a consistent all-star caliber player. If you're going to trade Rondo, you need to get one of those back. And Conley is, well, just a bench player.

Really?  We are getting a young star in Gay, and a young PG in Conley, who has the potential to be nearly as good as Rondo, and was starting to show it last season.  I think this is a no brainer for the C's.

This one is bs. It's funny, b/c I've never read the realgm forums, but the comments on the deal are let's just say not very insightful. Oddly enough, almost everyone also thought the C's were hosing Memphis. Is Rudy Gay even that good?

i think rudy gay may be just what theyu predicted him to be. very talented but maybe lacks the desire to be a real star. could be that he's just stuck in bball hell though. i don't get conley. i never once thought he'd be a real good nba player. did'nt get all the hype when he was at ohio state.

yup its gotta be false, the only way we trade rondo is to make a run at the 2010 free agents. Both conley and gay are up for extensions as well. It just wouldn't make sense.

you really seeing that out of Conley? He seems so unwilling to lay it on the line.

I've been very unimpressed with Conley. The fact that he still hasn't nailed down the job on a terrible MEM team....that would be a huge concern for me.

I like Gay a lot, but my big thing with trading Rondo is getting a talent back that could fill his void.

Conley is 21 2 years younger than Rondo.  

February numbers 14.5 PPG, 6.2 APG, 4.8 RPG
March numbers 13.9 PPG, 5.1 APG, 3.5 RPG
April numbers 15.6 PPG, 5.8 APG, 3.7 RPG

Gay age 22

Numbers were pretty consistent all year.  18.9 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 1.7 APG

After looking at the numbers especially Conley I feel a little better if this trade were true.

Rudy Gay has the size and athleticism to be a great player.  He's gotten off to a slow start in the NBA, though.  He's pretty much just a scoring wing who can rebound okay and get some blocks - an athletic guy.  Kinda like Josh Smith.  

He's in his third year and only at around 17 PER.  Maybe he'll be an All-Star at some point, but my impression is that is far from guaranteed.
