I think these 2 deals could help us out not only this year in a run for another ring, but also help with the future and create cap space as well for 2010.

The 1st deal would be with the Suns where we deal Ray Allen, Tony Allen, Scalabrine and a future 1st rounder for Nash and Stoudamire.
Why the Suns do it: I think the Suns are going to end up dealing Shaq and may scrap everything and rebuild. There's already talk that Nash may want out. Getting 3 expiring contracts in Ray, Tony, and Scalabrine will give them alot of money to play with for the big free agent class in 2010.
Why we do it: Well, for obvious reasons. #1, Nash teamed with Garnett and Pierce would be a fierce trio. Plus he comes off the books after this season. Stoudamire would give us another legit scoring option and really solidify our front line. Not to mention he's a perfect replacement for Garnett in a couple years.

The 2nd deal would be with the Kings where we trade Rondo and Giddens for Hawes and the #4 pick.
Why the Kings do it:They want a bonafide young PG and Rondo fits that bill. Plus with Thompson, they can afford to trade Hawes.
Why we do it: I really believe Ainge thinks Rondo will outprice himself and ask for way too much when he becomes a free agent. Plus Hawes provides us with a young talented, legit center with a nice offensive post game. With the #4 pick, we'd draft either Rubio or Evans. I'd prefer Rubio since Nash would be the perfect mentor for him this season.
After the trades, the roster and rotation would look like this:

Nash, Rubio, and a vet PG-maybe Jason Williams.
Pierce,House, vet SG we sign with MLE
Stoudamire, Pierce, Walker, free agent SF
Garnett, Stoudamire, Davis, Powe(when/if he returns)
Perkins, Hawes, Erden or a vet center we sign

We definitely would have to use a large chunk or the whole MLE on a SG, but this roster has a nice blend of youth and established star vets. With a starting 5 of Nash, Pierce, Stoudamire, Garnett, and Perkins, we'd be definite favorites coming out of the East. And our low post offense would be much improved with the addition of Hawes.

Unfortunately, that's not really realistic.  Rumor has it that the Wizards were potentially willing to deal expiring contracts, Nick Young, and the #5 to Phoenix for Amare, and Phoenix insisted on Caron Butler.  If that's the type of value that Phoenix wants, then there's no way they're trading Amare' and Nash for expirings.

Honestly, I believe that any deal with Phoenix will need to include either Rondo OR Perkins AND have us taking back Jason Richardson's contract. It is a tough pill to swallow.

With regards to Sacramento ... you'd be looking at Tyreke Evans and Spencer Hawes for Rajon Rondo and JR Giddens?  Don't believe I'd do that deal.

Roy, i don't think you understand. This works in the ESPN trade machine. It's a lock.

Per celticsblog trade forum rules, if it works in the trade machine, the team not named the Celtics is contractually obligated to be interested in the trade, more so than any other by any other potential trade partner.  ;)

Ludicrous!  Nash AND Stoudamire for Ray and a bag of chips, or a proven young top 5 pg (Rondo) for an unproven young guy and a backup center?  Guys, I'm not here to bash people's trade ideas, but this team has the best starting 5 in the league.  We don't need an overhaul!

Please, let's just sign a good backup center (McDyess/Sheed), wing (Grant) and resign Marbury.  If it ain't broke don't fix it ::)

So we have a center at SF, and Pierce at SG which I don't like at all. Perk would have to move to the bench if this happens.

Actually Perk will end up starting the whole season as Amare will probably be hurt (well he might play hard because it's a contract year)....

TP. I agree. When healthy we stand a very good chance at winning the whole thing. No need to act irrational and start blowing the whole thing up..
