Sure either that or they are made up by say like Detroit maybe...

this is my problem with the whole situation. every report seems to come out of the celtics camp. whether this is in fact true is incidental. the perception will be a reduced value on the market. like danny says, the calls are made every day, the questions are always asked. under the current circumstances, no one will feel they have to pry rajon from the Cs, they'll assume they might be able to lowball a little bit and still have a chance at a deal.

I think its naive to think that the C's are not shopping Rondo.  However, judging by a lot of the rumors, they are not looking to give him away either.

I really think Danny sees he has a package similar to the package he gave up for Garnett.  He knows that after this year, this package will no longer be available to him, so he wants to throw it out there, and see what he can get for it.  I don't think there is any desperation to make a move, but if the right fish bites, he will pull the trigger.

This is going to be an interesting summer.

yeah, I agree this only has to do with trying to sell high...it has absolutely nothing to do with Rondo being a problem on the team. That's just speculation that gets better headlines than the actual reasons.

the thing that worries me is the possibility that DA thinks Rip, Stuckey and Prince is the right fish.....That deal would make me very unhappy.

See, I actually think that is a very good deal, because it brings two younger guys in their prime, making reasonable money, and who know how to win, along with a young guy with star potential.  But I am scared in general of any move Danny makes, just because we simply have no idea how the players will blend together.

I'm definitely biased against Rip...never liked the "flopping" game he plays and I like PGs to be facilitators. I'd worry about losing Rondo and not getting a pure PG in return.

Maybe that's what Danny is trying to do, but for the Celtics. The steady stream of rumors has already done a number to Rondo's reputation. He's uncoachable, got a bad attitude, teammates hate playing with him, etc., so maybe (a big maybe) we'll be able to sign him for less. I just wonder at what cost... I'd rather Rondo be totally focused on practicing 17 footers than wondering where he'll be living in a few months.

why does everyone become such suckers in the offseason?

there is no way we trade 2/5's of our starting lineup.  no way whatsoever.

Why would you think that? We didn't win a title this past year so Danny will probably pull the trigger for the right sweetheart deal.

Why?  These starters got off to a 27-2 start just last season.  KG sat out the entire second half of the year, and we still finished with 60+ wins.

Not broke, don't fix.

you're missing the point. the celtics are shopping everyone but Paul and KG -- get used to it. whether they trade them and for whom is what's in question. but pretending like danny ainge just sat in front of a microphone and say what you did is now not an option.

Getting your Bentley appraised and actually selling it are two very different things.

I have no doubt he starting lineup will be the same next season despite what conversations are had.

if i'm wrong, i'll give you a TP everytime I login to the site.  of course if I'm right...   ;D

By the way, for anybody who thinks this offer was never made, apparently a Pistons official confirmed it to the Detroit Free Press.  Link.

Maybe Rondo did have a nice postseason, but did you see how dirty he was? He punched Brad Miller in the face on a game winning layup, threw elbows and tripped people on a whim. I know, I know, the championship Bad Boys did some of this stuff too, but I would NOT want to see Rondo on a pistons team. As far as Ray Allen goes, three 2 for 12 nights followed by one 8 for 15 night is not my idea of a consistent scorer. Who are the people that would have pulled the trigger on this one?

The more I think about it, the more I don't like that trade. If Stuckey hadn't had a clunker of a year as a starter I'd feel a lot better about it.
