I have to get this off my chest in order to recieve absolution. Way back in the day I kinda thought Leaf would be a better QB than Manning. After this recent arrest I admit he's probably the biggest bust ever for someone who played for the team that drafted him

Haha. That is pretty bad but not as bad as me thinking that Adam Morrison would be the next Larry Bird  :-X

i thought gerald green would be a star (me and half this board, LOL). he is still young and i hope it happens.

i thought tom brady was a flash in the pan.

i thought giving up a first round pick to acquire bill belichick was one of the dumbest moves i have ever seen.

i thought pedroia was awful when he first came up in 2006....could not believe this was the guy the sox had high hopes for.

i am sure there are others, those are the ones that jump to mind.

I thought Dice-K would be an ace.

I thought Lebron was going to be a bust and that Carmelo would have a better career.

I thought Sergei Samsonov was the better player (between he and Joe Thornton) in the 1997 NHL Draft.

I thought Sebastian Telfair was going to be our star point guard.

I thought Vin Baker would regain his All-Star form. Blame it on the a-a-a-alcohol.

I thought Jay Williams and Dajuan Wagner would both be better NBA players than Yao Ming.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

As someone else said, I thought Vin Baker was going to be the missing piece that was going to make the C's a contender.

I thought Ron Mercer was going to be a superstar.

I thought that Tom Brady's play during the Pats first Super Bowl run was beginners luck. (Though in my defense, he didn't play all that well during the run.)

  • Thank you Eddie!
TP for you for the thread idea.  Anyways...

I thought the 07 Red Sox would be a horrible team.  They were so bad that they won the World Series.

Around '05, I thought the Celtics had a shot at the 08 title with the team they had at the time.  We all know what happened to that team.

I thought hockey was murdered in Boston.

I thought Wally Szczerbiak would be the perfect sidekick to Paul Pierce.

I am still fine with Pedro in the game in the 8th inning of Game 7 in the '03 ALCS.  Remember the bullpen was atrocious that year.

After years of being a huge Danny fan, and beefing with those who prematurely pronounced him a failure, saying that he'd cash in when the time was right, I totally missed the boat on the Ray Allen trade.  I blew a fuse when he did that.  Thought it was a Mickey Mouse band aid move to pacify Pierce and an impatient fan base, and that bringing in Ray did not make us true contenders, and therefore, truly set us back in our quest for banner 17.  Didn't think he'd still be able to get Garnett, and trust me, I excoriated Danny in chats on draft night, and in subsequent postings on message boards.  I totally and completely missed the boat on that one.

I thought the Magic could give the Lakers a run for their money.

When I was very young I thought Webber would be the next Jordan, fell in love with Montross, thought Laetner would be hall of fame and thought Charlie Ward would end up in football somehow and be good. And Tommie Fraser too.

I thought Jason Lawson of Villavona was going to dominate at the pro level.

Lol, wow.  I never thought he'd dominate but I thought he'd be a solid pro on like the Horace Grant, Antonio Davis, Dale Davis, P.J. Brown level.
