I don't care how it happens I want Shaq in Boston.

Shaq + KG = Title.

I"m not one to play around with the Trade Machine but I figured I'd start a thread which I'm hoping lasts a long time, or at least until Shaq is moved.

Danny has strong ties to Phoenix and we all know he's a miracle worker. With the window of championship opportunity realistically not going beyond the next 2-3 years Danny's got to be trying to bring the Big Cactus to Beantown no?

I mean, The Big Beantown? The Big Leprechaun? We can go on forever, but all I know is that I want him here playing alongside KG and Pierce next season.

I know Shaq has been reported to have said his preference is to go to Cleveland (only if Lebron commits for 3 more years btw) but you've got to think coming to Boston would be extremely attractive to him, no?

I think it's going to take the whole team effort to ultimately bring him in the same way we brought in Posey. You know, the individual phone calls from Pierce (who Shaq nicknamed the Truth which everyone knows of course) saying how he can easily adapt to the East coast despite not having the luxury of year-round sun like in Miami.

I'll close by stating the obvious: Shaq expects to win a ring THIS SEASON. He's not happy now that he has just as many rings as Kobe and he wants to beat Kobe in the Finals (so I believe he's either coming to Boston or Cleveland)

Sorry for the rambling rant that I don't know where to end, but I want Shaq here and I know it's possible so please tell me what you honestly think.

There's no realistic way to do it without including one of the "big three", probably Ray.  I think a Ray-for-Shaq deal would be a net downgrade for the team.  We already have a pretty good center on our squad.

Shaq for Ray would be entertaining but it's hard to see any net improvement.

I wouldn't mind pushing Perk to the bench for a year, but that trade would put an insane premium on adding wing players through trade or free agency.

No point to an add Shaq when it costs the team the outside shooting it needs to play off Shaq.

Exactly.  And I think people also underestimate what Ray's outside shooting allows Paul, KG, and Rondo to do.  If the C's do end up trading Ray and the player they get back is only a mediocre shooter, I think we're going to see more problems than some people think.

Obviously Shaq is on the block, and now Nash says he'd like to play for a title.....soooo How about something like this:  I know we lose Perk, Rondo and Ray in this one - which is a lot, but we also get a ton of cap space next year )Shaq and Nash's ontracts are both up at the end of next season - LeBron/Wade anyone?) AND we'd have a starting 5 of Nash, FA SG, Pierce, KG, Shaq.  Sounds like title contension to me.  There are also other ways we could do a similar deal w/o giving up all 3 of our starters...

Rondo and Perk have good futures. Nash and Shaq don't. I'd maybe maybe maaayyybe consider it if they agreed to 3 year cheap contracts afterwards, but I don't see that happening

Shaq may never come to Boston, but at least this thread is "official". I say thank god some Celticsblog administrator decided to officially designate this thread as the 'offical bring shaq to boston thread'.

Where would we be without prudent officialism in our threads? I will tell you.

I'd love Shaq, but we dont have the contracts to give up. We're not giving one of the big 3 for him. And - he really doesnt have that much left in the tank.

Might we could sign him after this year - if he doesnt sign a contract when he gets traded.

I love Shaq but I think his schtick would get pretty old if he were in Boston. He's like a kid with obnoxious ADD...they're fun to watch wreak havoc in someone else's house, but when they're knocking over all your lamps and getting your Xbox controller all sticky, they're not nearly so cute.

The only way I want to see Shaq doing any sort of sport in Boston is fighting in an MMA event against Hong Man Choi.

I'd pay top $$$ to sit cage side.

Playing for the Celtics?  No Thanks.
