They played a hell of a series and were the team of destiny this year.
The road bump in Houston was a nice gut check and the Denver series everyone said Denver was the better team.  Looking back its funny to see how ephemeral the opinions of the day are.  Watching Kobe, Pau Gastrong, Odom, Ariza and Bynum operate was a beautiful thing to watch- even for me, a huge Celtics fan.  Let's all congratulate our new NBA royalty.  Hopefully the LAL-BOS rematch happens in 2010.

Discoflux, I like your posts and have no problem whatsoever with you. That being said, respectfully, get bent.  ;D
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

I guess they were the team of destiny.  They got about every break a team could possibly get in the playoffs.  Good for them.

And don't give me that crap about hoping for a rematch in 2010 with the Celtics.  It would just be more of the same from 2008.  The Lakers are the champs, and no one can take that away from them right now, but to be deluded into thinking that the Lakers are the better team when healthy would just be a repeat of 2008, when they, and all the misguided "experts" thought the same thing.

You've got 12 months to enjoy the win.  Don't waste it.   8)

They were the team of destiny in that they were the best team left standing after the unfortunate "destiny" of injuries happened to all the other teams.

Honestly I think the only two players of note on the Lakers are Kobe and Gasol.  Odom is good when he's playing well, but nothing special when he's not.  Ariza is a good role player.  The rest...eh.  I know I'm biased, but I feel like our team was much more impressive last year.

The Rockets would have beaten them if Yao didn't break his foot.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Out of curiousity did lots of Lakers fans congratulate us last year? Or when they beat the Rockets in 86?

It would be very fake of me to congratualte them.

I am also not likely to be congratulating the Yankees or the Canadiens or the Jets or Giants. When the Giants played some of the greatest football possible against the undefeated Pats that was one thing. This is another
