Get Rid of Rondo Instead

Easter Conference is about to get that much tougher. And we need Perk more than ever. Teams will have to have a designated Howard defender & perk is that guy. Add that to the possibility of Shaq's changing coast & joining Lebron. Perk's value is at an alltime high. He could be our key to success next season. He is our best low block defender & our best shot blocker.

I have a suggestion, Get rid of Rondo. What makes him special nothing! He can't shoot, can't defend, can't focus, and can't lead. He needs to hang it up, especially when Rafer Alston takes you to school. And how about Derrick Rose out performing Michael Jordan in his playoff debut. Rondo should be shamed.

Enough with the rondo BS. Combine that with him possibly asking 4 the max in 2010. I'm sick & tired watching Pierce & Ray worked to death everygame cause of Rondo's deficiencies. Every game is a battle even against sub-par teams. If there is a player that can improve this team, Rondo should be bait#1.

And if a Point Guard is needed, I believe Jason Kidd & Andre Miller are available.

you make Rondo sound like a scrub, dude's a borderline all-star and incredibly young - remember he put up near triple doubles every night in the 1st round... the kid is actually special, but you are right there are some inconsistencies - I'd say don't trade Rondo unless you get A)Chris Paul or B) Deron Williams (obviously Lebron/D. Wade/Duncan would be fine too, but we're being quasi realistic) Rondo has a chance to be a hall of fame player, and you make him sound like he's Bimbo Coles

Rondo and Perkins are both great defenders at their respective positions. Usually the big man is more valuable between those two positions. But Rondo's offensive game is much more developed than Perks add to that his rebounding and it changes the equation.

Now Rondo still needs to become a passable jump shooter to ever tap his full potential. But when he does that he'll become a much much better player than Perkins. I'd hate to trade either of them, but we'll see what Danny cooks up.

I agree that Perk is extremely important to our title defense, but you don't give Rondo enough credit.  That being said yeah, I'd trade Rondo before Perk, but I don't want to.  You'd have to really give me someone special in return for Rondo (Chris Paul).

  Legit points? The only legit point you made was "can't shoot". Rondo clearly outplayed Rose and Alston and he made that all-defensive 2nd team. He does a fine job leading a team with three HOFers.

I don't like the idea of trading one of our starting player at all but if I had to I would trade Rondo before Perkins. Perk is the anchor of our defense, a great defender and rebounder, and his absence would cost us a lot. On the other hand Rondo has many qualities (his passing, his driving ability, his rebounding and his decision making). But I must admit that the fact that he can't shoot is really a big liability for the team. I thought he would improve it last summer but he didn't and I'm not sure he will be able to shoot well one day in his career (and we can't afford to wait too long anyway).

Plus Rondo seems to have behaviour issues which can be costly (sometimes he decides not to play defense or take terrible decisions) for the sake of the team. And maybe he is becoming arrogant. All this stuff is hypothetical and Rondo could easily get on the right track instead of becoming a "problem player".

But that's why I would trade him before Perkins, only if we can get some great player (or players) in return.

Still I think that you are overlooking Rondo's qualities in your thread, Change, we could think that he is an horrible player by reading your thread while he is clearly not.

Yes, I know Rondo deserves high praise 4 his performance in the playoffs. But Rondo is a liability on both ends. Most of it can be offset with effort. If he puts in the effort nightly there is no stopping him. But right now Perk is more valuable.

  If Rondo's a liability at both ends we should just cut him. I'm sure Wyc would rather eat the $2.6M then take the hit in the games. I mean, if he's as bad as you (and others) seem to think then he's no more in a trade than a throw-in to match salaries.

Too funny.  Ok let's see.  Perk is the Celtics' best low block defender?  Interesting... you must have forgot that KG is still on this team even though he was hurt.  Keep in mind that "low block" defense doesn't simply consist of blocking shots.  Perk is great at D, no doubt and I love him on this team.  You're just over-rating him a tad bit too much.

Wow where to begin with Rondo.  True he's not even a decent shooter, but all of your other arguments are laughable.  Can't defend?  Apparently you know more than everyone else that voted him to the all-denfensive second team, but hey that means nothing.

Can't focus or lead?  What exactly does this mean?  Because clearly you can be "out of focus" and essentially average a triple-double in the playoffs.  I'm not sure if you ever played PG at any level, but his leadership on BOTH ends of the court is very solid.  Do you watch him call out the other teams' plays on defense and signal it to the rest of the team?  Do you remember Doc saying how Rondo knows what plays the other team is going to call before he even has to say anything?  Did you notice that as a second year POINT GUARD he was able to lead and manage three hall-of-famers put together literally overnight, all the way to a title?   That's not easy, especially when they all had at least a decadesworth of dominating the ball on their respective teams.

Kidd is just about done and while I like Andre Miller as one of the few rare true PG's in the game, he's not nearly as good as Rondo is overall.  

So yes, I reiterate, did you forget your meds this morning?
