Chris Paul is a scorer. We don't want our starting PG to score unless absolutely needed to. And hopefully with a healthy Celtics team, we won't need our PG to score.

He's an everything.  He can do everything.  With a great team around him he could do a lot.  Imagine his assist average with Paul / Garnett and a decent 2 around him.

Also, if we didn't have Ray, Paul would take up some of his former scoring duties.

I'm not saying this trade would happen but I wouldn't write it off as bad necessarily.  Paul is an MVP guy as others have said and a top 5 talent in the league.

If you do this move, offer Ron Artest the full MLE.

Perkins
Garnett
Artest
Pierce
Paul

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
****, Why would we get Paul when Wade is on the table?

Maybe Danny's waiting on Lebron :o

While I don't enjoy how much he dribbles around holding the ball Chris Paul is far and away the best PG in the league.

If we could actually get him for a package centered around Ray Allen and Rondo we do it immediately.

I wouldn't wait that long.

Me either. I'd call Shinn, tell him I've shipped a truckload of top-notch hootch his way, and drop off a bag of cash to boot.

Ray and Rondo for Chris Paul is one of those trades you dream in REM sleep.

I second that.  If you take Paul away from that team that team really struggles.  He makes them a strong playoff team.  Paul, Pierce, and KG our new big 3.  I'd do it in a heartbeat.  Maybe then Ray gets bought out eventually if NO sucks and returns to Boston.  I would look at Marion or Artest for the full MLE.

For anyone who wouldn't make this trade, ARE YOU CRAZY?! We would have one of those teams you spend hours on making trade after trade on a basketball video game. Rondo and Ray are fantastic, but Paul is on a whole other level- like top 5 player in the league level...like surpassing Garnett level...

I'd do that trade if I was Danny. Then I'd get a Celticsblog account and come on here to talk to fans all about the deal and bask in the accolades.

Celtics have already agreed to this trade.  They just need NO to want to make such a deal.

I can't believe that there are actually people who have found a way to say that this trade would not be good for the Celtics.  This would top anything Red Auerbach even pulled off.  The reality though is that even if Chris Paul were on the market, NO could get more than Rondo and Allen.

That could be a whole new thread, making up trades for other teams to offer NO for Paul.

I could see a trade of Paul along with maybe some junk for a big expiring deal or 2 and then young players and good draft picks.  Once done, then they can sell the team with a low payroll, a young core of reasonably priced young players, and extra future draft picks.  It give someone a nice chance to start the francise over.  That part seems plausible.  It is just not plausible that the Celtics could offer the best package.

Top anything Red Auerbach ever did?  Come on now let's not get silly.  I would say getting Parish AND McHale in the same trade kinda would top this.  Even trading Gerald Henderson for Len Bias was pretty [dang] good.

Oh ya, and he sort of essentially traded the rights to the ice-capades for Bill Russell.  That kind of translated into 11 titles in 13 years.  But ya, Chris Paul could definitely top that.

and don't forget drafting Bird as a junior-eligible either.  That seemed to work out pretty well for Red too.

That's true. NO could do better than rondo and ray...unfortunantly.
