Miami would never, under any circumstances, do that.  Wade is the face of the franchise, and is frankly a great deal better than Rondo.

Also, Miami has no need for Ray, since they already have over $40 million in expiring contracts, and don't have any bad contracts on their roster.

Wade is certainly better than Rondo by a lot. but is he better than Rondo + the two big FAs they sign in 2010?

right now they need to re-sign Wade and add a Chris Bosh, etc...

but (just for the sake of discussion mind you) if this was a real deal, they would have Rondo in the bag AND be able to sign two max deal FA.

so the breakdown would be:

Wade + max FA

vs

Rondo + 2 max FA

is:

Wade and Bosh (LeBron, etc)

better than

Rondo, LeBron and Bosh

How does acquiring Ray help them acquire a free agent?

Their contracts for next year are:

Wade - player option
Beasley - team option
James Jones - non-guaranteed / partially guaranteed
Cook - team option
Chalmers - team option

Every other player on their roster has an expiring contract.  If Miami wants, they can get rid of every single player on their entire roster before next year.

but they would have Rondo. Ray doesn't help them free up money per se, it helps them free up money AND have Rondo.

Eh...  the only cost savings is the difference in how much Rondo signs for as a restricted free agent vs. how much Wade signs for as an unrestricted free agent.  Let's say Wade signs for around $17 million in his first year and Rondo signs for $8 million.  I don't think $9 million is worth the difference between Wade (a superstar) and Rondo (a top ten point guard with all-star potential).

Maybe if we throw in Tony, Scal, and a #2.

leaving aside the speculative nature of this for a sec..

am I the only person who is kinda down on Wade?

all the home life stuff, the performance enhancer stuff, injuires....I don't know. he's been rubbing me the wrong way for a while.

I'd be down on him if any of that stuff was proven true.

I'd rather try to swing a three way deal if Wade is really looking to be moved....with SAC?

MIA gets: Ray and Rondo

BOS gets: Kevin Martin and #4 (Nocioni too?)

SAC gets: Wade and Chalmers

so essentially we'd be giving up a future hall-of-famer SG, and a near future All star PG, for the rising star of Kevin Martin and an uncertain draft pick. I'd rather, Miami gets Rondo and Martin, we get the 4 and Wade (who frankly has proved himself more than K-Mart has), and The Kings get Ray and probably some future first rounders.

Not to be down on Kevin Martin, but I'm really unsure about his unorthidox shot being successful for much longer, people will figure it out.

Kevin Martin is a shooter.

There is nothing to figure out.

i see what you're saying, but the difference isn't so much the actual money saved but who they have on the roster when they go into the 2010 FA.

if they keep Wade, they'll have money to sign two max FA.

if they move Wade in a deal like the one proposed, they still have the money for two max FAs but they also have Rondo.

What about the rights to Glenn Rice? Sherman Douglas? Ronny Seikly? Willie Burton? Does Miami still have those to throw in? ;D

No.  But he's as much a source and rumor investigator as anyone in here so what's the difference?  With all the rumors out there why make one up?  It's rumor season buddy, why in the world would you not post a rumor like this?  To what degree should we qualify a rumor?  Please let me know, bc that's a tough question to answer.

If they thought there was a very slim chance they could resign Wade?

You may recall that the Magic once had another young dominant big man that carried them to the finals.  They lost him shortly thereafter for absolutely nothing Hobbs.

"Never under any circumstances"  ok, if you say so.

Rumors, Rumors. I personally don't think its a good fit 4 boston. Wade can't be wade here, and he isn't a great shooter. Losing 2 starters for Wade just so can turnaround and leave for the highest bidder the season after. For Miami, if this trade goes down, fan backlash would doom that franchise.

Why is Rondo more likely to want to stay in Miami than Wade?  He's a restricted free agent next year, and can become unrestricted the following year.

Why don't you address the circumstance provided?  You said under no circumstance, I just gave you one.  Nothing?  Just a low blow accusation that I am lying about a conversation I had with a friend.  One would assume by being honest and saying right off the bat that I heard it from a friend everyone one would know that I'm fessing up that there is a grain of salt required.

But again, you are wrong sir.  It's not chamlmers and wade for rondo, although framing it like that does support your position, which is just to make accusations of dishonesty.

Hobbs it is wade for rondo and ray allen.  then filler.  last i checked ray allen is good, but he also has one of the best contracts for any team that wants to be a player in 2010 free agency.  the Heat would become THE major player in 2010 free agency, AND have rondo.

but please let me know what qualifier phrase i need to attach to any discussion of a RUMOR so as not to upset the honorable roy hobbs and i shall comply sir.
