There has been a lot of talk about big moves with Rondo or Ray...but I think many people agree the more likely scenario (if not necessarily the more exciting to speculate about) is that we make smaller moves to bolster the bench while keeping the starting 5 intact.

With that in mind I decided to try and take a realistic look at what could possibly be available for a package based around Scal and TA's expiring 6 mil.  We could add to that package with a future pick or a marginal prospect (Giddens, Pruitt, Walker), but the main thing we would have to offer would be future savings/cap flexibility for the other team.  So I tried to look at teams that are in financial straits or are generally going nowhere and wouldn't mind saving money.  I targeted players making in the 5-7 mill range so the numbers would be close for the CBA rules.

The list I came up with isn't super-inspiring, but there are a couple options I would consider.  I have put years remaining (according to hoopshype) next to the players.

Big Men:
Dan Gadzuric (2)
Camby (1)
Nazr Mohammed (2)
Diop (4)
Jeff Foster (2)

Swing Men:
Mo-Pete (2)
Posey (3)
Nocioni (3)
Francisco Garcia (4)
Deshawn Stevenson (2)
Tim Thomas (1)
Jason Kapono (2)
Jared Jeffries (2)

Guards:
Barbosa (3)
Marcus Banks (2)
Dan Gibson (4)

My thoughts...Camby, Barbosa, Foster would all be cool, but we probably don't have enough to get them because they are actually good.

Of the more realistic options, I think a case could be made for going after Gadzuric (has he been injured?) or Diop as backup Cs with good size.  I would only look into that if we couldn't convince someone like McDyess to come here on a reasonable deal.

As for the swingmen, I think some of those guys would be an upgrade to back up Paul and Ray (especially because a lot of them are bigger and can play the 3 as well as the 2), but we would have to weigh that against the added financial obligation.  If we think Bill Walker could be just as effective as some of these guys they are probably not worth it.

Any thoughts on this list, or other names I may have missed?  It may not be as exciting as talking superstar names, but I think something like this is more likely to happen.

I'd rule out Camby, Foster and Barbosa as targets. I don't think they're acquirable for the package Boston are offering. Those teams each value those players highly, and they will get much better offers should they choose to trade them.

The rest, I think you can make a legit case for them being sold off. The first four wings on your list look the most talented players of the bunch.

Not to mention that Camby has one year left as well.  No reason whatsoever for the Clips to trade him for a different set of expiring contracts.

If Cisco was able to reproduce his form from the 2007-08 season, I'd love to have him on the Celtics. He was a very good sixth man that year. Unfortunately, he's too darn unreliable to take that sort of financial risk on him.

Most unreliable player in the NBA? He has to be in the running for that.

Sorry I'm probably being brain dead but who is Cisco? If that is the list of players I want Posey or Nocionni if I can't get either I'd rather keep TA and Scal.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I think Barbosa can be had for Scal, TA, and a future first rounder. In fact, the future first may not even be necessary. It has become painfully obvious that the Suns are going to stink for quite some time, so what purpose do they have for hanging on to a role player, and why would they want to continue to pay him? I suppose Barbosa would be a nice incentive for whichever team is making a bid for Amare. But, other than that, they have no real purpose for the "Brazilian Blur." As long as another team doesn't offer an arm and a leg for Amare, which I don't see happening, then Barbosa is most likely not going to get thrown into a package, which means he should be able to be had for scrubs. Plus, I like the idea of Barbosa coming off the bench for us.

Stevenson would be a nice option to backup Paul and Ray.  If we could put together a deal to pry both he and Blatche away, we'd really be sitting pretty.

I'd be willing to part with Scal, Tony, Bill Walker and a future pick for
Deshawn Stevenson and Andre Blatche.

Such a move would allow lots of flexibility with the MLE.

I don't think that it is that obvious and neither do the Suns. Barbosa certainly has more value than Scal + TA.

The bigs:
I agree that Foster is unrealistic (as he said he loves playing in Indy) and Camby as well (he's an expiring contract too), but I'd be happy with Diop or Mohammed.

Swingmen:
Nocioni would be awesome, and it'd be funny to get the Poz back. Garcia wouldn't be bad either.

And as for the points, honestly I'm hoping the Celtics can resign Starbury so that won't be the issue. But what about Earl Watson?

I really hope Danny can get one of these trade done.

Even though I'm lukewarm on Stevenson, I'd much rather trade Tony and Giddens for him than for Willie Green.
