At least until someone ripped the Lakers arguement appart with the Celtics winning more titles, being 9-2 in the finals against the Lakers and having the best title winning streak of all pro sports in North America.


Then he put the Lakers 4th behind the Canadians.

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but the Lakers have been to the Finals 30 times right? They have 14 rings... that means they are 14/30 aka less then  .500 to win a championship. Sounds like a pampered team that is just allowed to waltz to the finals and expected to LOSE each year if you ask me.....

What I don't understand is the "intangibles" category.  This is completely subjective, and yet the Lakers get +150, and the Celtics get +50, despite being the most successful team in NBA history.  The Celtics tradition and history is every bit as successful as the Lakers.

For the rest of it, who cares about playoff wins and losses, in terms of evaluating a franchise?  All that matters is the last game of the playoff season, and there, the Celtics have the most wins.

Not to mention the fact that 5 of the Fakers' titles came in Minnesota before the shot clock and goaltending...     Anything that happened before the shot clock and goaltending shouldn't count anyway.

Complete and utter drivel.

Assigning point values to intangibles, wins and losses, and everything is just silly. Especially when Hollinger himself repeatedly preaches that its not just W/Ls but point differential and efficiency that is the best predictor of team strength.

Plus in the end the point values are so arbitrary its easy to game the system to get the results you want and have it be "fair". Just a stupid article.
