The article neglects to mention that by the time Scal got through with the pizza there was nothing left for the kids, they had to share the leftover crust.

How could I forget this one?

Quote
Brian Scalabrine shaved his head to help raise awareness for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which has raised more than $34 million for child cancer research with head shavings in 18 countries. Scalabrine was shaved Thursday and also shaved heads at The Greatest Bar across the street from TD Banknorth Garden.

"My wife is all good with it," he said. "She knows it's for a good cause. But my daughter was a little scared. She'll be turning 1 in a few weeks.

"She crawled right away from me, looking back scared. But by the time I came back from shootaround [yesterday], she was all good with it."
Great overall post Roy.  Every team (espeically a championship caliber team) needs a guy like Scal.

you mean he didn't keep the hair?  Can he grow it back?

anyone wiolling to bet he does'nt improve his body one iota AGAIN this off season. that's awesome what he does for charity.  can't stand his lack of dedication (as i see it) to helping the team.

Why should Scal improve his body?  Is he physically weak, unable to defend post players?  No, he's defended KG, Big Al, Rashard Lewis, and Amare extremely well.  Does he get winded easily?  No, he's one of the most energetic players on the team.  Why, then, should he improve his body?  For aesthetics?

As for his game, he is what he is -- a hustle player who plays defense and hits the open three.  He's a poor man's Posey.

because it would make him just a little bit more effective at the things he does well(or not so well). just a little bit. he has'nt done it since he's been here.

Well said, Roy. I'd like to trade Scal, too, but he really is a great guy off the court. And on the court he accepts his role.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

So does that go for the perpetually pudgy Paul Pierce (alliteration!) as well, or do you only pick on the bodytypes of players whose games you don't like very much?

As far as I can tell, this is just senseless veiled hatred for a role player who lately has done nothing but exactly what the team has needed him to do.

so scal is eating pizza with a bunch of kids, big deal. He's a good guy and down to earth, and in great shape based on the defense he plays. If Lebron was eating pizza with kids no one would say anything. Also, Pierce is not pudgy, Pierce is rugged.

The original post, and 90% of the posts in this thread, have been pro-Scal.  I don't think anybody actually criticized him too much for eating pizza (other than CDawg834's joke).

More Scal:

Quote
On Monday Celtics forwards Brian Scalabrine and Bill Walker toured the nation’s Capitol with approximately 15 students as part of the tenth annual ASSISTS Community Service Contest. Contest creators Southwest Airlines and the Boston Celtics flew the students for a field trip which also included a tour of other monuments and attractions in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area.

Scalabrine and Stephon Marbury teamed up with students from the Harbor Middle School in April to paint a mural for the 5th annual Southwest Airlines ASSISTS Clean-Up Day. The ASSISTS Community Service Contest was open to all eighth-grade students in the Boston Public Middle Schools.
