Why is everyone in a hurry to trade Rondo? The guy is a great young player with endless potential. He helped lead us to a title last year. This year, with all the injuries, he really stepped up his game. He and Perk are the future of this franchise.

I love Rajon as much as the next guy, but no one is untouchable.  It truly depends on what you are getting in return.  Remember, we're going to have to pay up when Rondo's contract expires and it will hamstring us for  years. Just saying, if the package in return puts us in a better position for more banners, you do it.

No one is in a hurry to trade him.  His name just happened to be connected to a rumor out of Phoenix.

With that said, I would not be against a good trade that he was a part of.  The Phoenix rumor just wasn't that good of a trade.

Rondo gets too many rebounds, makes way too many assists, he is a thief-on defense, and is just generally annoying for the other team. Those are just a few reasons to trade him-if you are a Lakers fan anyway. Seriously though, I am in complete agreement that you just don't trade Rondo unless you get someone back of superior quality, not questionably supereior quality. A trade next year for Ray's expiring contract, Rondo, and 2 1st's for Lebron makes sense for Boston.

We talk about trading Rondo and Ray for 2 reasons.First because there was a trade rumor. Second, we don't have anything to talk about.

Maybe there's something else we don't know about.
So we all know Rondo's contract has to be renewed and maybe Ainge and Rondo's agent can't seem to agree on a number they feel is fair. I think if Rondo wants to be paid like a superstar, we should trade him while we can. I for one don't want to give him a huge contract and miss out on other free agents down the road..

Man this stuff makes me laugh.  We hadn't had a quality NBA high caliber point guard since really DJ (unless of course you somehow think Sherm Douglass, Dee Brown, an aging Kenny Anderson, an aging Gary Payton, and he countless other jokers we've had since DJ), and we're talking about trading him.

Seriously, all the winning in the last two season made me forget how absurd these message boards can get when there's nothing to talk about.

Rondo isn't going anywhere.  In fact, he's gonna take over the captainship when Pierce retires.  And he's gonna be second or third on the team in scoring next year.  Watch.

Totally agree about how we've been waiting for a point guard for YEARS. The only Rondo trade that makes sense is if New Orleans is going broke and is willing to trade CP3 while unloading a contract.

And its pure speculation to say Rondo is demanding a max contract, so ship him out. There's been no rumor about Rondo or his agent's asking price.

Overall, neither Ray or Pierce had playoffs up to their standards, KG didn't play, Posey and PJ weren't around, Powe basically didn't play, and we still beat the Bulls and won more games against Orlando than Cleveland. Rondo was a BIG part of this. Rondo, Perk, and Baby stepped up their games.

Yeah. That definitely makes sense for Boston. I'm sure Cleveland would feel the same way.
Go Celtics.

Rondo = untouchable.

He was untouchable back when teams wanted him along with Theo's corpse expiring contract and he's untouchable now.

Nobody is in any hurry - keep in mind that the board was split on whether Amare was enough!
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

I think it was more split on weather the 14th pick is enough to replace a starter where we would have a glaring hole, since most dont trust steve nash at 35 to provide anything like the defense and durability that rondo does. Steve can barley play every 3rd night right now with his back while taking defensive trips off , thats not going to get any better with another year on the legs.

Also, amare is not a guy who wants to come off the bench, he;s made that quite clear and KG is not a great center. Amare also hates playing the 5, and is a lax defender.

Its not that i don't WANT amare, i just question where he would fit on our team with KG and perk, since he's publicly said he doesn't like playing the center spot, and also if losing one of our only remaing young coroner stones for a short term rental of amare and nash is worth it.

ainge threw nothing out there, the only "source" for this rumor is a local sports show on ESPN's PHX affiliate.

If anything, i would say PHX would leak this, since they are desperate to drive up amare's trade value.
