I would do that if nash was 5 years younger.
He's shown a marked decline over the past few years, and i don't think all of it is due to having shaq slowing down the offense.
I don't think nash is better than rondo at this point in their respective careers. Nash is aging with a bad back that is limiting his minutes, to many miles on him for us to consider this. You gain his shooting, but get he plays awful defense.
2004-2005 ish nash, i do it. Current nash, no thanks.
Well, if Ainge is considering this deal because he thinks Nash is better - or even equal to - Rondo at this point, then he's nuttier than even I think he is.
The ONLY way you make this deal is if you've got a youngster lined up at the point, which is why I don't even consider this deal without the Phoenix draft pick. Then, you use Nash as a bridge for a couple of years.
It's true that Nash isn't a good perimeter defender. However, our perimeter defense was every bit as bad as Phoenix' in the Orlando series.
I'd be shocked if Ainge was considering this deal, and surprised if he so much as attached his name to it - unless, of course, he's sending an off-season message to "work hard and be better when you return for training camp" to Rondo. I didn't see Grousbeck's statement that he's not going to extend Rondo this summer, as others have been reported, but if so, I applaud that. This isn't the time to overpay for a guy whose effort could improve.
