Celtics trade: Perk, Ray, Rondo, Scal

Suns trade: Amare, Nash, Barbosa

What do you think?  In the end, I'm not sure the team could afford to make a trade like this, because it would kill our defense and disrupt our chemistry.  In terms of talent, though, the Celtics probably win this one.

No.

Celtics won a title on defense.  This trade basically makes them at best, average in terms of team defense.

Add necisary bench pieces or find a way to trade Ray (and parts) that doesn't kill the team defense.

NO thanks.

Rondo is already better than Nash right now not to mention much younger. Barbosa would be nice and I'd take him over Ray. While Amare is a much better offense power forward than Perk he's awful at defense.

Perk and Rondo are excellent defender + they're young while Amare and Nash are older and terrible defenders.

If bring back the same team as last year with a healthy KG we got a good shot at winning it all. I think we woulda beat Orlando had we had a healthy Powe.

I agree.  I wouldn't make this trade, either, because defense wins in this league.  (Case in point: Orlando, Boston, and Cleveland ranked 1,2,3 in defensive efficiency this season).

I do love the idea of Amare' in green, though.  I understand why people hate him, but I think he's a beast of an offensive player, and he was buying into defense at the beginning of last year, before the team (collectively) quit on their coach.

I would be all for a trade of Ray for Amare as long as the spare parts were not two important defensive role players Perk and Rondo.

I think Amare could become a true NBA beast playing on this Celtics team learning from KG and Perk how to be defensive forces down low.  Eventually, he takes KG spot and the Celtics are a force of the future with Rondo, Amare and Perk.

what footy said.

nash is old, and kinda overrated IMO, im not sure you even win the talent trade, not even counting how fragile amare is.

It seems like Kerr is trying to build the Mid-Nineties Allstars, so what about:

Ray & Garnett for Amare, Richardson, Barbosa, Lopez and #14

any chance that the celtics have some problem with rondo's attitude that we didn't hear about and that this rumored deal is true? Scal's quote after the game 7 loss about why they didn't have the same energy as other games, and rondo showing up late for a few playoff games kind of makes you think

Interesting trade, Roy. I have a couple of points:

1. I want the 14 in any deal with the Suns that involves Rondo. There are a couple of point possibilities who could be around at that point.

2. I'd want the input of Garnett and Pierce before I made this move. Fairly significant tinker with chemistry, and I'd want them to indicate if they thought they could play with this group.

Interesting offer that with the above OKs is one I'd consider strongly, as much as it would pain me to part with Perkins. His shoulder, though, is becoming as big an issue as Amare's eye.

I wonder about that, too. TP.

That's just too much for both teams to give up.  That's like performing a heart and liver transplant and a vascectomy in one surgery.  There are so many simpler options to try and improve both team's situations, that I doubt either would ever resort to swapping 2/3s of their rotation.
