It's a major change.

But ... if you can get the 14 and use it wisely on a point, then you've got three good pieces for the future. Nash should last another couple of years as a tutor while Pierce and Garnett's prime passes.

I doubt seriously if it happens. But it's an intriguing notion.

To be honest, the biggest reason I don't like this trade is giving up Perk.  I thought he really came into his own during the playoffs and loved watching him play D12 to a near standstill.  I want to continue to watch this kid grow as a Celtic and think he's already an integral part of this team.

KG/Amare is tempting but I sure like KG/Perk too.

Agreed. Perkins would be a painful loss. I agree with your assessment of his game.

steve nash is  and has been the WORST defensive point guard in the nba outside of dan dickau for years. heck no. i still cringe that they gave him one mvp. nevermind two. awesome offensive player though. dude would probably have the all tim assist record playing his whole career on a phoenix team like that. still. he's no john stockton. not even close.

Nash would be a stopgap at best.

But ... it wasn't like our perimeter defense was anything to brag about in the playoffs this year, anyway. It was terrible.

True.  But when you have guys like Derrick Rose, Devin Harris, Jameer Nelson, and Mo Williams running the shows in the East for the forseeable future, its a scary thought to have Nash out there combating it.

Celtics trade: Perk, Ray, Rondo, Scal

Suns trade: Amare, Nash, Barbosa

What do you think?  In the end, I'm not sure the team could afford to make a trade like this, because it would kill our defense and disrupt our chemistry.  In terms of talent, though, the Celtics probably win this one.

I'm with what nick said from the other thread. Amare and KG play the same position. Don't really like that mixture. plus, if the Suns showed one thing this year, they don't like having to play defense.

I do, however, really like watching Nash and Amare play their pick and roll together. so much fun to watch. maybe they could reconvene in TOR with Colangelo for another go at it.

Amare and KG don't play the same position if you move Perkins. Amare has to slide to the 5.

It's a similar skillset, true.

And who is going to guard Dwight Howard? Andrew Bynum? Defend the paint against Lebron?  Terrible move for Amare to play the 5.  He is an awful defender. We'd never make it to the finals with Amare at the 5.  Sorry, but Perk is one of the best big man defenders in the league and therefore is untouchable.

ridiculous. remember all the whining amare did about playing the 5 in PHX? then he whined about shaq getting the ball. he's a bad fit.

yeah but those guys aren't going to be good on the offensive end if they actually have to do something on the defensive end.
