The Bosh/LeBron thing is ultimate scary. Frankly I'm not a fan of Bosh on TOR, I don't think they have the right mix of guys to build around him.

A three team deal probably makes more sense.

First things first...the cavs are not looking to rent players for a year.  They are looking to build a core and be good for several years in a row.  The 'renting' players theory is assuming Lebron is leaving after next year which isn't happening. Lebron has spent 6 years developing with a team that is now a legitimate top 5 team.  He isn't going to start over again after next year.  The guy wants to win championships not rebuild organizations over and over.

Andy is going to resign with the Cavs.  The guy eats dinner with Z, takes Judo with Delonte West and has even written 'chose one 2' on himself.  He is great friends with everyone on the team.  He even did the chalk toss before game 5 of ORL series.  The Cavs are going to sign him.

I don't see the Cavs moving any young players in the offseason (specifically Hickson), but they will definitely be active again

You can say all those lovely things about AV but it still comes down to money. Will the team comitt the long term dollars to keep him in Cleveland. They didn't want to do it last year, has their outlook changed that much on the player?

He had a good year, but he's sill very much the same player. Though the refs give him more respect. That helps his "dirty/hustle" style a lot.

Leon agrees about the Refs giving him more respect.

I really think that AV doesn't resign, because he won't see the long term money he wants, so he will accept the qualifying offer. As he proved last season his self imagined value is much higher than his actual value. I also think he'll stay with the Cavs, MMacOH, but I think it would only be after he realizes nobody is going to blow the cavs offer away with big money.

IMO (and hindsight is 20/20) the cavs wasted a huge chip in wally's expiring contract. Danny fery should have turned that into a second piece for lebron.

He no longer has a qualifying offer, that was last year. He held out and got a contract offer from the Bobcats, Cleveland matched it. He has an ETO this year. He'll be an unrestricted FA iirc.

I definitely agree. Now a lot depends on the specific offers you were getting. But you should have used it somehow. Wally was not playing enough to justify keeping the contract on the books. Not when you're trying to win in the next two years.

Thats what I meant. He's not gonna opt out, he'll come back for his 6.2 million

I myself think he'll opt out. Free-Agency is a bit weak this year, and I think he can get a bit more this year than next. How Cleveland handles this could be quite key for the future, but it may be almost a no-win situation regarless.

I expect Varejao to opt out and to resign with Cleveland.

The Cavs want him long term and will offer him a contract of comparable, or slightly better, value than the one he's currently on. I think he'll be hard pressed to find a better offer than that.

The Grizzlies may be his best hope of gaining a larger contract. Not an ideal situation.

Exactly, he'll most likely resign. But he should definitely opt out. No reason to play out his deal when he can easily get more guarenteed money.

For those who think he'll just take the 6.2, why when he could get 20 over a number of years. What happens if he blows an ACL, he'd lose out on 14+ easily.

Anderson Varejao did not meet with the media Sunday, but a league source said that he intends to opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. This option was part of three-year offer sheet Varejao signed with the Charlotte Bobcats that the Cavs matched in 2007. Varejao will likely leave $6.2 million on the table coming off a season in which he set career highs in starts (42), points (8.6) and field goal percentage (.536). Cleveland Plain Dealer

I am incorrect.

Andy is going to opt out (as you found the story from Brian Windhorst), but I definitely think he will resign with the Cavs.  Only if he will make what he is worth though.  I think the Cavs will offer around 8 million a year.  I don't see them going over that number

That just seems really high to me. AV to me is just a taller version of Powe. He's not really that talented...he's just really...determined.
