  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Sheed says 8 million or bust...and say what you want about the guy but he's a guy who seems like his word is bond. He's got a ring so he doesn't need to go chasing...I think he will get a contract, but it won't be with us.

Sign and trade with the cavs? It makes almost too much sense to actually happen.

who are the Cavs giving up?

Resigned varejao+hickson? Boobie Gibson is also a chip for them

that's a tough blow to CLE. They really need Var IMO.

You know, I agree with you in that Cle needs Varejao. However, I also think that the upgrade you get from adding wallace is too great. Vareajao, a good player in his own right, is just a tier below sheed in terms of talent.

NOTE: I had a bigger explanation (around 300 words) but I hit the back button on my browser. [dang] sausage fingers.

just getting back to the beginning of this topic, Sheed makes sense to me in respect to Wyc. He's a guy that has been sort of in this discussion for a long time and has that long standing relationship with KG.

I wouldn't be surprised if KG hasn't been working this angle all year with how DETs season unfolded. "Hey, we're waiting for you friend. This train has a seat with your name on it..."

Sheed's not gonna want to go to some "nubile" club trying to figure out who they are like  PHI or MIA or CHI, or places that have big question marks like HOU or UTH or NO.

IMO he's gonna look for a spot where he can just step in and be comfortable, get lots of love and spend the season readying for a serious playoff run.

I think Sheed's destination is down to three clubs: DEN, LAL and BOS.

DEN because they are now a top team that easily could win it all added to Chauncey being there.

LAL - Showtime. Not sure if there has been bad blood there ever, but Showtime is Showtime. (totally dependent on what Odom does)

BOS - for all the reasons already stated...

See I don't know how you get there. The only thing Sheed has said that I've read is:

Quote from: Detroit Free Press
Free-agent center Rasheed Wallace wants $8 million to play next season or he's going to retire, according to a Slam Online report.

The news is just a few sentences on the Web site and cites as its source a "close personal friend" of Wallace.

A phone call to Wallace's Washington-based agent, Bill Strickland, wasn't returned, but if the report is true, that's probably it for Wallace's 14-year career. In this economic climate, it's hard to see a franchise paying $8 million for a player who appears to be on the decline. It's unlikely he'll return to the Pistons.

I mean understandably, a "close personal friend" is no Mark Felt, but its pretty much the only news that has come out on the topic.

Would Sheed really be willing to sign or one or two year deal?

I think thats the only deal he'd be willing to sign.

Here's my little pseudo-poem which will be my last post on here until there's some sort of trade/signing etc:

Sheed over McDyess, at any price;
If it's anyone else, it better be nice.

Happy trails, Celtics fans.
God bless and good night!

I don't think there is any reason to limit Sheed's destinations like that. I think he'll go to whichever good team will pay him the most.

I think that's a pretty fair summation. I think also the coach of the hypothetical team might have something to do with it too..Sheed wants a players coach, which I guess helps us a little.

I think the money out there is going to be pretty comparable. maybe i'm wrong on that. but I see Sheed looking at MLE type money.

if that's the case, then i do see the decision process coming down to teams like DEN, LAL and BOS.

Why not Orlando if Gortat walks? Why not Cleveland?

I don't see him signing with Orlando even if Gortat walks. Whose minutes does he take? Hashard Rurkoglu has the 4 spot pretty locked up, since neither one plays the 2...I could see Rasheed getting maybe 15mins a night there, but Sheed will want the PT IMO...He's gonna need 25 a night, minimum.

FTM I don't see him really signing with Denver either..Martin and Nene are both signed through 2012 and with their recent success I doubt he'd supplant either in the starting lineup.

In that same vein though how weird would Wallace and Billups on the same team with Melo be? I would be like Darko never happened.

How much money are the Celtics under the cap right now?  I doubt they can afford to bring everyone back and sign someone like Sheed.

They are over the cap by a lot. They are over the luxury tax currently even before considering resigning BBD or adding anyone.

All additions will have to be done via MLE/LLE/Trades/Minimum deals. And resigning our own FAs.

Oh.  So, if we are in Salary Cap Hell, why is there a chance of this happening, along with resigning BBD/Powe and getting a backup PG?  Doesn't seem like there's enough money to go around.
