reposting this thread lead-in from a Real GM post:
Quote
He was on latest edition of Celtics Now with Michael Holley and said he had a free agent in mind.

thought it was pretty interesting fodder for discussion given all the talk here of late.

I'm gonna agree with Faf from another thread and say Sheed too.

The guy took a lot of heat in match ups against us for his pre-post game interactions with our team and has an obvious connection with KG.

landing Sheed puts us in the driver's seat as far as the Baby negotiations go and makes it possible to feel REALLY good about signing Leon because we would have to depth/flexibility to wait for him to rehab from his surgery.

Sheed can step out and hit the three, rebound and protect the basket.

he can play both PF and C and would go a long way towards keeping both KG and Perk fresh for the playoffs.

He also would be perfect for stepping out on guys like Bron, Turk, Lewis, etc (big wings that can shoot over our current reserve bigs in pick and roll plays).

Lots to like about a Sheed addition to this team. Could be a major move to revitalize his play.

The obvious questions: is MLE money interesting to him combined with a 6th man (non-starting) type role?

Bigs: KG/Perk/Sheed/Leon/Baby(for more reasonable money/Scals

Sheed would also make it possible to add the expiring contract of Scals to TA (with Walker taking his role) to try and land a long wing in the Posey mold...

TP for agreeing with me  :P.

Sheed would be a perfect fit for us, if he's motivated to play hard. He can block shots, guard both PFs and Cs, and space the floor.

But if he's not 100% in I'd rather have McDyess or another veteran big who will come of the bench with some fire.

Maybe, we'd also need to see what happens with BBD/Powe before trading away Scal.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Sheed says 8 million or bust...and say what you want about the guy but he's a guy who seems like his word is bond. He's got a ring so he doesn't need to go chasing...I think he will get a contract, but it won't be with us.

Sign and trade with the cavs? It makes almost too much sense to actually happen.

I'll say McDyess.  He should be more cost-effective than Rasheed.

good point. but i think Leon would sign here in a heartbeat and having Sheed would be the safety net for being comfortable re-signing Leon coming off that surgery.

but yeah, maybe they let Baby walk and keep Scals. tough to say what BBD will be looking for or will be getting from other teams.

If I was Danny I would try to get Sheed signed up straightways because it would de-cloud the landscape for the rest of FA...

Resigned varejao+hickson? Boobie Gibson is also a chip for them

Either would be great. It all depends on the price, which we really don't know yet.

I don't think they'd trade AV for Sheed. AV is young and has been there best big man this year by a large margin.

McDyess.

Looks to me like he's got more left in the tank than Raweed, anyway.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

I've gone back and forth on this, but i think I have arrived at Sheed because of his length and ability to step out and hit that three.

Length is such a big help in our Pick and Roll defense and something we lacked off the bench this year.

not unhappy with Dice by any means, but just giving the edge to Sheed because of a few added elements he brings to the table.

that's a tough blow to CLE. They really need Var IMO.
