Van Gundy and Mark Jackson have to be one of the best commentators the NBA has had in a long while. I'm not a huge fan of Jackson, but he's better than Reggie Miller. I love how Van Gundy doesn't hold anything back.

I really hope Van Gundy doesn't go back to coach - because then we'll be stuck with Doug Collins. There are only so many times I can listen to Collins talk about closing out quarters - and field goal percentages.

I completely disagree. Doug Collins is by far the most articulate and knowledgeable color commentator on TV.

Doug Collins is great. I'm a big fan of Mike Breen, JVG and Marc Jackson. Surprising, as I normally can't stand ESPN.

Perfect summation of my feelings.

I'd consider JVG-Collins 1-2 among national analysts right now.

Van Gundy and Jackson working together are a hoot. While they sometimes get the specifics wrong on individual players or teams, their views on how to play the game, strategy, attitudes and what not add to the experience of watching the game.

Collins is great too, but lacks the personality to sell what he is saying some times.

Mark Jackson by himself is pretty bad.  He tries the one liners that seem too fake.  However, when he's with JVG then they do well, clicking well together and feeding each other.  It's also funny when they start making fun of each other.  JVG is plain out hilarious.  I can def see him being like Tommy when he gets older.  Once he starts worrying about the producers and just say whatever is on his mind, he'd be great.

I love listening to Van Gundy, he always have some nice and pretty accurate quotes. Jackson is good too, as Collins is.

However I can't stand Mike Breen and Jon Barry, I always feel like Van Gundy and Jackson are embarrassed by Breen sometimes.

Jon Barry's counter ego is Captain Obvious. His power is perception. Sadly its not super, its mediocre.

I can't stand Jackson.

He raves about superstar players for 48+ minutes .

Worst thing possible would be to listen to him announce a Cavs/Lakers final.

My only beef with Jackson is when he says "Mama, there goes that man!"

Does he watch games with his mother when not broadcasting?
How does he alter that line if he transitions into WNBA games?
Was he told by ESPN/ABC to come up with a catch line and that's the end result?

Please leave the silly, non descriptive, zero substance, absolutely unfunny catch phrases to Stuart Scott.

Otherwise, Mark. Keep up the good work!

Any why does Marc keeping calling him Coach?

I also find it ammusing when he tells us what the players are saying/thinking. At least he's better than Reggie Miller.

I can't stand Mark Jackson.  Something about his voice and the way he speaks that makes it kind of hard to listen to.  He just doesn't flow well, and can also be annoying at times.

I love JVG.  He is informative, funny, and never afraid to say what he really thinks.

Mike Breen is terrible.  Always overreacts to plays and especially fouls.  He calls everything a hard foul and it is really annoying.  Also, he has man crushes on Kobe and Lebron which makes it unbearable to watch.

I like Reggie. He is not spectacular but better than Jackson and he can be funny at times.

I am a doug Collins fan.  He is just solid.

Finally, Marv Albert should always  be the voice of the NBA and call the finals.  Please, step aside Breen, and let a real commentator show you how it's done.

He was once Marc's coach in NY(knicks)

You've got to be kidding, the only one that I can stand is Collins.  There's no doubt in my mind why Jeff isn't coaching any more and Mark is utterly worthless.  It's as if someone told them to dumb it down for the general public.  The best by far is Hubie Brown.  That guy knows something about basketball!

And how long ago was that? Like 10-15 years?

I agree with the Hubbie Brown comment. I wish he got more air time.
