Van Gundy and Jackson would be alright if they took off their gold/purple colored glasses once in awhile.Breen has a good speaking voice but he wears purple/gold glasses as well.

My least favorite are Hubie Brown and Doug Collins...Marv Albert/Reggie Miller is running a close third.

I like Shaq's idea of taking some courses in "how to"be a good commentator/announcer...here's some who should consider going to school.
1.Jalen Rose
2.Charles Barkley
3.C.Webb
4.GP
5.Reggie Miller

I don't think they're especially biased towards LA

They just talk a lot about whatever Stars are on the court. Especially during the first half or when the game isn't very close. That is just part of how the NBA is marketed, not bias.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
My only beef with Jackson is when he says "Mama, there goes that man!"

Does he watch games with his mother when not broadcasting?
How does he alter that line if he transitions into WNBA games?
Was he told by ESPN/ABC to come up with a catch line and that's the end result?

Please leave the silly, non descriptive, zero substance, absolutely unfunny catch phrases to Stuart Scott.

Otherwise, Mark. Keep up the good work!

Hahaha... That's the only thing I like about him.

Don't ask me why.

All i here is Kobe is never wrong and everyone else is.They are as bad as the announcers who can't see Lebron crab dribbing or charging.

Anyone hear Eckersley last night say out loud what Kevin Youkilis was mouthing when he got hit by the pitch?

Thank goodness for DVR because everyone did a double take and we had to confirm it...10 times.

Yeah but thats just it..a lot of announcers, aka everybody. Its a superstar driven league, and you're gonna have a lot of platitudes and sweeping generalizations about the superstars, especially as fafnir noted, in the first half.

I feel they favor the Lakers no matter what team they are playing. They sound Laker driven (imo).

Oh it p---es me off too. I sometimes scream at the TV "talk about the game not Kobe/Melo/Billups etc".

My other pet peeve is when the announcers talk about KG changing the "culture" of the Celtics and missing that "leadership". That really annoyed me. The Celtics were missing a 7 foot all time great NBA defender who is a great passer and a great 18-20 foot jump shooter who matches up very well with Rashard Lewis. Missing his leadership on the court was the least of what we missed!

Well you brought it up so I'm gonna comment on this too.

There is in my mind NO way we lose that series against Orlando with KG...and before he even got hurt, I thought to myself "I really doubt we're gonna be able to take it this year with the roster we have" I dunno if I said it on here, but I really thought it.

The Orlando Cleveland series is making me eat my words. We would've given Cleveland 7 games with Garnett easy, and to me there is a good chance we could've taken it. Garnett isn't just words and profanities, he's a solid freakin player. He's a top 15 guy in the league no matter where you put his alleged decline (ok, so its not that "alleged"). He would've severely limited Lewis, if not shut up out of 2/3 of the games in the series. That's gotta be worth a win or 2, right?

annnnnnd scene.

Walton and Snapper jones are legends... they seriously didnt like eachother and it was hilarious to listen too.

Marv Albert needs to take that whig off.

Well, they are the most entertaining, that's for sure. However, my favorite color-commentator is Hubie Brown. Great knowledge for the game.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

I pretty much dislike all of them, but Hubie is by far the worst. He explains the game like the people watching have a learning disability. Marv just tries way too hard. Plus, the dude is a complete pervert. I have no respect for him as a person or as an announcer. Dick Stockton--if he even calls games anymore--has no clue what he's talking about. He couldn't tell me the difference between The Birdman and The Truth. My five year old cousin is more knowledgeable than him. Mike Breen makes me uncomfortable with his love affair with the Lakers. Whenever I'm watching a Laker game, Breen always seems to be announcing, and I feel like I'm the third wheel who is tagging along with a married couple.

Y'know who else is really good is Bill Walton. He's like Dick Vitale without the ADD and yelling. Could you imagine Walton if he HADN'T done all those drugs?

Everything is positive without coming off as cliche' or stupid.

If worse comes to worse you get some weird acid-induced rant where he's like "Weeeellll y'know it's about the muuuuusic man and the wooden triangle ..ucla man..vietnaaamm was a mistake...and the TEAM, passsing first and dunk only when you really have to...the fundamentals...and girls..and it's like when you're naked and the neighbors complain and it's like..it's ok maaannnn"

and then Bob Costas is like "You're absolutely right Bill. It is like the music and when you're naked. Good call."

and then Van Gundy is like "Bill you couldn't be more on. We did that in practice every day and in the game that's exactly what happens cause you have to run a naked pick right when the music is loud and the other team won't hear you call it out. John Wooden invented that play and it's just as relevant now as it was back then."

I will NEVER get tired of that
