Doc recently said the priority should be to get a new center. Then, he said, we have to find a backup for Paul and then a point guard.

ESPN's Chad Ford is saying the Wizards are willing to move JaVale McGee for Oklahoma's 3rd pick. Could we convince Washington with, say, Big Baby, Gabe Pruitt, future picks and cash?

McGee is young, athletic and very promising. Perfect fit, IMO.

He looks promising but the C's need an experienced backup at the 5, not another young player that's not ready for prime time in the rotation.

We need to eliminate projects, not acquire more of them.

I'd like to move Tony Allen for Oklahoma City's third pick, myself. Doesn't mean the Thunder are that stupid.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Not that they would go for it now, but I seem to remember the Thunder looking into Tony Allen, for that hometown hero thing....

unlike other projects, McGee has already shown he can play. i don't see us being able to get him, but i'd love him on my team.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
I've been monitoring McGee all season, checking his progress, he's been OK but has a VERY long way to go. He would not be able to contribute to this team next year, his inexperience and inconsistency remove him from the list of options for the C's.

I think you are missing the point of Chad Ford's comment.  It was not that they are looking to dump McGee to the highest bidder, it is that they want the 3rd pick.  We have nothing to offer them to entice them to give up a player like that.

He's not a project: he's good. which is why we won't end up with him because presumably we have nothing the wiz would want for him.

McGee to me seems to be on the same level as O'Bryant. He is very long and athletic, but he is a bonehead with no basketball IQ whatsoever. I watched him play in summer league last year and he takes any shot he has, whether it's a contested fadeaway 3 or whatever. He's got potential, but I just feel like these low BBIQ guys never seem to work out in the long run.

Like some guys said, the Wizards obviously value him pretty highly if they think he can net them the 3rd pick, so our roster filler isn't going to get the job done to get him.

I like McGee, but why in the world would they do this? Wouldn't they be delighted to get either Rubio or Thabeet?
