McGee to me seems to be on the same level as O'Bryant. He is very long and athletic, but he is a bonehead with no basketball IQ whatsoever. I watched him play in summer league last year and he takes any shot he has, whether it's a contested fadeaway 3 or whatever. He's got potential, but I just feel like these low BBIQ guys never seem to work out in the long run.

Like some guys said, the Wizards obviously value him pretty highly if they think he can net them the 3rd pick, so our roster filler isn't going to get the job done to get him.

He has been much better then POB.  He is the type of young C I wouldn't mind the Celtics taking.  Limited minutes, a season of tutoring from Perk, KG and Cliff Ray; come playoff time, the Celtics probably have one of the best 2nd Cs in the league.

Of course the only way the could go get him is probably something that lets the Wiz trim payroll

Ray, Pruitt and JR for Butler, McGee, Stevenson and Songaila

We need to eliminate projects, not acquire more of them.

I'd like to move Tony Allen for Oklahoma City's third pick, myself. Doesn't mean the Thunder are that stupid.

Where is Chris Wallace when you need him?

I don't believe the rumors.  Athletic, young 7 footers with his pedigree (his mother was a great player) don't grow on trees. He's a project, but so is Thrabeet, and McGee costs less than half of what a #3 pick costs.  If anything, thae rumored deal would be a salary dump by OK City.

And if the #3 pick is being shopped, I'd certainly be willing to buy it to get Rubio (but not Thrabeet).

They want to win now.  I could see them moving anyone to get there.

I love how Gabe Pruitt is the sweetener. Like, "We're not interested in that trade." "Well, we'll throw in Gabe Pruitt." "Oh wow, now we have a deal!"  :P

I agree with you here...Javale looks promising for the future in the NBA.

They could just wait till we cut him and get him for a cheaper contract.

Pruitt is what we call filler.  Chances are, DC makes this trade because they are trying to cut future costs while trying to win now.

No projects. We need proven veterans. McGee might be a lot better in a few years but like Doc said, we are in the now, and we are looking to win now. Proven veterans will help us achieve that.

If they would do that, the C's would say yes before Songaila came out of their mouth.  Butler is a stud, Stevenson is a very good role player with a reasonable deal, and McGee is an excellent prospect.  The only thing resembling a bad contract there is Songaila's...and even his isn't terrible.  It just has one year after this, at less than $5 million.  He isn't worth that, but its not something you give up a package like that to get rid of.

Yeah, that trade would be crazy good for us.

(In other words, the Wizards would never do it)

So... I guess Doc isn't too high on Semih Eerden.  Why am I not surprised?  McGee is a nice young center, but he's still a project.

A veteran would be preferable. If Sheed can't be lured into playing for the MLE, my next choice would be Za Za.

Speaking of the Wizards, how about Ray Allen for Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood?
Before you say yes, take a look at Arenas' contract.  I bet the Wizards would leap at that deal.

I am a big fan of Zaza, but it depends on the money.  I would throw the entire MLE (for say, 2 years) at McDyess before throwing that kind of money at Zaza (who likely will be looking for a much longer contract).

As for the Wizards deal, change it to Butler and Haywood, and you have a deal...I am not a huge Arenas fan.

funny i like this. As a kicker we'll resign Moore to the min and include him as well.

ditto.  Caron Butler is the best player that team has.  Arenas is, like how Keith Hernandez refers to George Costanza....a chucker.

I also disagree with the McGee comparisons to O'Bryant.  McGee is much less of a slow stiff than OBryant and hes showed a lot of promise in his rookie year.  IMO, Washington made some bad moves last offseason, they need to stay content with the 5th pick, hold onto McGee, and avoid any other mistakes.
