They are the two free-agents that we should be purchasing hard this summer, in my opinion.

McDyess is a veteran player who plays good D, has a good midrange jumper, knows how to attack the rim, and brings his desire and intensity every night. A must-sign since we're looking for a good 4/5 bench player.

He should be interested by the Celtics because he wants to get a ring before he retires, he was disappointed in his return to Detroit, and he may be willing to lose some money if it results in a ring (see his buyout to leave Denver to Detroit, even though ultimately it was a really bad decision).

Jamario Moon is an other free-agent that we should really sign : he is very athletic, plays good D (or correct D), he is a slasher and he shoots the three (I don't know how well though). Also good on pick & roll as far as I know.

He had back problems in the playoffs, and ultimately missed the last games of the first round. Miami will probably try to re-sign him this offseason, so it will depend if he wants to play for a contender or get a good contract. If we sign him, he would be a perfect backup for Paul and a scorer/slasher for our bench.

What do you guys think? In my best case scenario, I'm assuming that we have re-signed Big Baby, Powe, Marbury and that House has decided to stay in Boston. Then, we've got to sign Moon and McDyess.I don't know if it works salary wise, so your knowledge on this subject would be appreciated. Moon earned 711 515$ this season, if you want to get an idea of how much he could ask this summer (probably more since his value may have went up since his trade in Miami). And McDyess could get the MLE, or less if we are lucky.

I really like both of them. I wonder what they will be asking/commanding on the open market. Can we get both with the MLE?

I think Ime Udoka might be a decent Plan B if we can't land Moon.

Long-time McDyess fan and sign me up for Moon as well.  Can't help you with the dollars but player-wise I love this post.

Mcdyess is a must. Moon I'll pass. Moon probably wants a nice contract. Grant Hill all the way.

I like Moon, but I don't think we'll be offering what he's looking for.

I've loved McDyess since his days at Alabama, but he kind of shafted us last year.

Also, I thought "Jackie" Moon was already signed?   :)

this would be an ideal combo to sign. And i hope we keep Davis and Marbury.

Unlike 2008, there are plenty of quality FA options to chase in the minimum to MLE range

The consevative in me would be ecstatic with McDyess and Grant Hill.  The Risk taker in me would prefer Ra (as in, Wallace) over McDyess.

Moon doesn't deserve more than a min. salary. Maybe the LLE. But he's not a good defender and he certainly isn't a slasher. If he was all that, Toronto would have kept him. Moon isn't much of an improvement over Tony Allen, so I don't think I'd make him a priority.

I woudn't mind McDyess for cheap money but I'd probably pass on Moon.  Haven't been particularly enamored with him when I've seen him play.

Grant Hill all the way.

I am on board here, I'd rather have Grant Hill as well.  Though Moon wouldn't be a bad second option.  All I know is the Celtics need to get a wing in the free agency this year or expect Billy Walker to get some serious burn.
do it

Doesn't BBD play that role right now?  Do the Cs resign BBD and sign McDyess?  Seems like they replicate the same position....  I would rather resign BBD and use the MLE to address the backup 1 and 3...
Celtics fan for life.

Yes, rumor has it that he wants a contract starting at $8 mil, or he will retire.

Grain of salt.
