(1) Let Glen Davis walk. He isn't worth the money he'll command.
We have no idea how much money Baby wants. If they can resign him for ~9 million/3 years, they should do it, imo.
(2) Let Marbury walk. Maybe he regains his touch, maybe he doesn't, either way I'm uncomfortable with the uncertainty.
(3) Move Tony Allen. If there's no decent trade on the table, offer $3mil to someone like Memphis to take his contract off the C's hands so the team can gain some financial wiggle room
I completely agree, time to stop the madness.
(4) I like Eddie House as the primary backup point guard and I like Gabe Pruitt as the third string point guard. Keep them. Stop trying to move House off the ball, I'd rather dump him than play him at the off guard next year.
We had House as our backup PG for the first half of the regular season, and I wasn´t happy with that. He´s better as a backup SG, imo, as a sparkplug off the bench. I would try to get a wing who can play the 2 and the 3, and use Eddie depending on the situation.
(5) Resign Leon Powe to a contract a little above the minimum and give him a shot at his comeback.
(6) Let Mikki Moore leave
(7) Keep Giddens and Walker, but since neither established themselves this season ... those two plus Pruitt should be taking up roster spots 13-15.
Yes, yes, and uhm? After two years, Pruitt`s still not able to get court-time. As dlpin pointed out, that´s ~ 1.5 million we`d pay for Pruitt. Let Pruitt walk and keep a roster spot open for buyouts at the deadline. The gamble itself is not the problem, it´s a problem if you gamble to fill key positions.
[8] I'd like to see Josh Powell signed for the minimum to be the fourth big man in the rotation.
I know you just want quality, but there´s no way I´m rooting for an ex-Laker...NO WAY!
(9) Sign Grant Hill to the LLE to be the team's sixth man in his first season, and possibly a lesser role the next year.
I hope they won´t do that. I don´t want this to turn into the Celtics version of the Malone-Payton Lakers.
I mean, I like the guy, I like the player, but we need real role-players, not an ex-star who has never won anything. If they´re really interested in McDyess and Hill, I think they should decide between them. Don´t take both!
(13) Examine trade possibilities with Ray Allen being the centerpiece. Maybe there's a worthwhile trade there, maybe there isn't ... it's worth looking.
Whatever we could get for Ray, I´m not certain that it would make up for his loss. It´s tempting to play with the idea, since he has a big contract and is the oldest of the big three, but I think Ray is a prime-candidate for a player you keep for less money. He´s smart, composed, skilled and in top shape. This is a veteran you`ll be glad to have around.
Imo, we have to keep the starting 5, Baby, Eddie, Scal, one of Walker/Giddens (and Powe, hopefully).
I want to see either a real big men who can play the game, not Mikki "Ol' Stone Hands" Moore, or a real 6th man at the wing position for the MLE. For backup PG, I´d be happy if Danny plays the "deadline-trade/buyout-game" once again, especially since we´re in a better postion this year with a bunch of expiring contracts.
