Considering the steps Baby has taken this season and especially in the Playoffs, what is his asking price going to be next year in free agency ? Has he played himself out of the Celtic's checkbook ? I am figureing he will get a 3yr 18 million dollar contract from someone. Your thoughts ?

No way a team is paying him $10mil/yr.  Especially when it seems like most teams are losing money.

Yeh, maybe not.  Salaries aren't my thing.

It'll be a bunch more than he's making now...How's that?
Yup

I'd been hoping 3 million. I think now he's getting closer to 5. The worst part is that 5 million might very well be out of our price range.

Just think, if KG had never been hurt, the rest of the league (and probably a lot of us, yours included) would still be sleeping on where Baby's ceiling is.

He seems to be playing himself into some team's midlevel exception.  I still don't think he is worth that and if the Celts agree then yes, BBD may have overpriced himself for the Celts.

without leon hurt, agree.

with leon hurt and our ability to not use the MLE due to bird rights, if they go that route, they better have a backup plan.

When considering Ronny Turiaf, Ryan Gomes and Perk one could put Davis into the $4 - $6 million range. Something like 4 years $25 million.

Given his restricted status, the strength of the FA class, and the current economic situation, I think he will likely sign (with the C's) a contract similar to Turiaf's from last year.  Turiaf got 4 years, $17 million...although I could see both Davis and the C's preferring to go with a 3 year, $12-13 million deal.  That allows Davis to test the market again sooner, hopefully with a more developed game, and better market, and it allows the C's more flexibility as the Big 3 are fading, and they may need someone more talented than Davis to take over as a starter (as he really projects as a 6th man on a good team).

This is nearly exactly what I'm thinking too; 3 years at 4.5 mil per.

You also have to consider the economy and shrinking salary caps. BBD has played great for us but he's undersized, a poor rebounder and can't guard perimeter players.

I would say average rebounder but would agree that he is a poor perimeter defender. I'm fairly convinced he will make at least an avg. of $4 million a year.

I agree, 4 million per is probably the bottom of his more expensive by the 20 point playoff game ladder.
