Let the drama begin.

Orlando Magic fan Ernest Provetti is demanding an apology from Glen "Big Baby" Davis after the Celtics' thrilling Game 4 win in Orlando Sunday.

Why exactly?

Provetti said Davis shoved his 12-year-old son Nicholas with such force after Davis made a game-winning jumper, that Nicholas' baseball cap catapulted into the air and his son dove into his courtside seat.

Provetti sent an e-mail to the NBA League office this morning. He said Davis crossed the line, literally, and embarrassed his son.

"The NBA makes it clear to not cross the sideline," he said in a telephone interview. "If I cross that line, the NBA will take away my tickets. It's a double standard."

In the e-mail, Provetti said Davis conducted himself like a "raging animal with no regard for fans' personal safety."

Provetti moved to Orlando from New Jersey last year and is opening another branch to his toy company, Team Trinity. He was previously a fan of the Celtics because he watched Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers as a former player for the New York Knicks from 1992-94.

He comes to every game at Amway Arena and sits in the V.I.P Row A, seats 5 and 6. After Sunday's game, Provetti said he received calls and text messages from other fans checking on his son. Magic player Adonal Foyle also checked on how his son was after the game.

Provetti saw the video clip online this morning. He did not think it was funny.

"How do you like to be a 12-year-old and see a raging lunatic coming at you?"

To me, this is the same situation as when a player dives for a loose ball. It's basically heat of the moment and the fans know they are in harm's way. And there's no way the kid is hurt. Come on now.

Obviously, it was an accident.  If BBD wants to apologize, fine.  However, I don't have a lot of sympathy for this fair-weather fan of a dad and his family.  He's been a fan of the Knicks, Celtics, and Magic now.  How about you pick a team and stick with it?

Again, I'd have a big problem if I thought BBD flattened him on purpose.  He didn't, and the kid wasn't hurt.  Move on, and pay more attention next time.

yea really, its neat how he's a fan of every team his company is opening a new branch in.

If the kid is really damaged by this incident, let me assure you, i will take on the thankless burden of having courtside seats in a playoff game to spare him this kind of trama in the future.

I checked the reply, and the father is absolutely correct, if by "catapulted" he means "fell off," and by "dove into" he means "remained standing next to."

He's seeking some publicity for his business.

Hahaha.  The embarrassment his son felt after that incident is NOTHING compared to what's coming to him now that his daddy tried coming to his rescue.  What a moron.  Maybe a few of his classmates recognized him on t.v., but now that his name's out there?  He's gonna get killed at school.

I agree that Davis should apologize to the kid out of good sportsmanship and to be a nice guy.  Honestly though the kid was too close to the court, he was one foot from being on the court kids should be a little further away from the action. Also Glen is a locomotive with him running at full speed you better get out of the way and that kid didn't move.  It was actually a good move by Davis because he really could have hurt the kid by accident and he shouldn't be running back to his teammates after a game winning shot having to sidestep a 12 year old kid along the way. Young kids shouldn't be 1 foot from the court on a last second play like that, that seems a bit ridiculous.

Most embarrassing is the fact that this punk would actually send such a letter to the NBA.  Look, you are sitting courtside.  Go back and watch the action, your kid turned away in disgust after Big Baby nailed that shot, and HE was standing too close to the COURT!  If he were paying attention, then this wouldn't happen!

Exactly this was an accident, the language in the letter is uncalled for. Baby should apologize for being careless in the moment and hopefully that will be that.
